Wow!  Thanks for the link.    I was just over there, browsing their website. "Chock full of information" is right!

Hi, I am a mother of 3 children, my youngest (9) has adhd/ocd (without
his meds, he is considered to have a severe case of adhd), I am new to
this forum, but very thankful to have found it. I can so relate to jag0531,
I seem to have the same issues, yelling, I try so hard not to, but, again, he
seems to tune me out if I don't, he is a great kid, but, always seems to be
in some sort of trouble for something he did. I do say please, thank you,
your a great kid, your a good boy, I love you. I praise him constantly, and
dicipline him constantly. I is very difficult being mike'smom, as I know
everyone here can relate!! It is so frustrating trying to get him to do
things sometimes, he just looks at you with a blank face, or he says he
forgets, or trying to understand him, that is difficult, he has no reason as
to why he does the things he does. I want to help him have better
control. He is seeing a psychriotrist, mostly to just check in and get
meds, but thats a start. Does anyone you have kids that through there
clothes all over the room, and whereever they land they stay, ALL THE
TIME THIS HAPPENS. Or take FOREVER to get ready, unless of course its
something he wants. Or ever wonder off without even a second thought
as to this might not me a good idea. Or have times when they just
destroy things without any thought again, I should not be doing this, or
this is not mine, or this is not my room or my struff.    Or destroy things
of theirown, for who knows what reason. I want to understand all of this,
I want to help him to control himself. I want him to be able to stop and
think before he acts out.        I would like to hear more about this marbel
method by orgram, I keep reading about.

Until I visit again, god bless

mike'smom

Your very welcome lesnathan I have been where the parents that post here are now and I am more than happy to share information and be supportive. I would just like to say that I commend all the parents that come here looking for answers and support to help their children acheive quality of life. Stay hopeful and vigilant parents because there is a light at the end of the tunnel Applauding all of you for putting your all into your children

Your welcome emergenti joined chadd when i saw luvmykids replied to my post and can't wait to get the information that they will send in the mail. very anxious. there was alot of info on adhd it seems like a sent 2 hrs on it last night after my son went to bed. i had been there before alittle but didn't realize they would send you info on how to start a support group. thanks again luvmykids as i always enjoy reading your postings and absorbing your knowledgeMy son was diagnosed about a year ago with ADHD, OCD & ODD. He is almost 5 years old. His pediatric neurologist put him on Tenox. He started preschool in October and is doing well. I'm looking for others recommendations on discipline. I find myself getting overwhelmed with his behavior and hyperactivity sometimes. I feel like I don't have any control. He's a great kid so I feel horrible when I yell at him. Sometimes, though, I feel like that's the only way he hears me. I would love to hear others ideas on discipline.my son is almost 5 now. and the marble system mentioned at the top on the forum by ogram is great . i've been using it for about a month now and i've seen a difference in my son. my son gets 25 marbles he gets 5 dollars.  i don't take away yet since i seen a difference and due to his age. i wanted the reward to come quickly for if he sees the results quick the harder he works on his positive behavior.  i see less negative. no yelling ,, concentrate on the positive behavior. if you only see the negative the more he is going to show it , the more you praise the positive behavior the more he going to show it. i hope that makes sense . its hard to start off with just looking for the postive but the more you practice it for your child the easier it gets  and it becomes habit forming for you. remember it takes 21 days to make a habit.  even if its just saying thank you. closing the door. picking up toys, anything that you approve of. let him know . great job!!!!!!!i live in a rural area where their is no parenting classes or support groups. my son has adhd and i feel that i am not alone on this in my community. i would like to help others but don't know how to go about getting it started. i know some neighbors are in the same boat as i am or don't have the resources . i would like to help my neighbors with this disorder and other disorders. has anyone ever started on and know how to go about it or know where to find the resources to get it started.
