Meds don’t work... | ADHD Information

I recommend getting your 6 yr old son reevaluated. Something else is obviously going on with the poor little guy, that he has no control over.

I wonder about bi-polar, which if he does have, and you treat adhd with the adhd medications but do not treat the bipolar, the adhd meds. exasporates the bipolar, making it worse.

This is just a mom's idea, I am NOT a doctor. I have learned from reading others posts on another board in regards to bipolar and adhd. It may be something totally different from even that.

Definetly get him reevaluated ASAP!

Best regards!

We have been trying to help out poor son for over a year now. He has been on all of them I think...ritalin, concerta, adderall, tenex, focalin, abilify.....nothing helps him. (I'm sure I have left one or two out!!) Some we had to take him off quickly because they made him worse. I am at my wits end .... he gets so mad so easily. Was told no the other night and he did this whole head banging body throwing while in his seat belt...... it was like watching a mad person. My  husband and I just dont get it. He hits his brother all the time and gets so focused on one thing and that is all we hear about "forever" until the next obsession and off to that!! We see both a Pyschiatrist and a Social Worker.....I honestly dont know if either is helping!!  Anyone else out there where nothing is working?? by the way my son is six.......and is an awesome little boy that just needs help!Beth is right!  you need to take him to neuropsychologist.  they will do a battery of tests and leave no stones unturned to find out what is exactly what is wrong.  You will know what is wrong, have him on the right meds asap.  it might take a few appointments, but they will figure it out fast!  You need a neuro-psyche eval. Maybe he does not have ADHD, or ADHD is co-morbid to some other primary disorder.Yeah, I would get an eval, find out what is really going on and go from there.
