Thats great news! My Chase is on ritalin and he is doing so much better. He pays attention and has better control over himself. His appetite seems to be fine too. I wish you lots of luck. I started Chase on his Ritalin LA on Saturday, and was nervous about it lasting the whole school day. I had him take it just 5 minutes before the bus gets here and he has a 45 minute bus ride (so do you see why he has such issues on the bus???). On Mondays, he has an after school woodworking class, so I was REALLY thinking that we would be spending the night plowing through a lot of work, but to my surprise he came home in an awesome mood, with just a normal amount (he got a lot done at the study tables provided after school), and a HUGE appetite. He said he ate his entire lunch tray and it wasn't enough, and all he got for snack was "4 small chocolate cookies, like Oreo's". He ate some hot dogs...and some pudding..we are at my daughter's house and she does not have too many choices...and he is asking for more food once we go home in 45 minutes or so....after eating he sat down and completed his homework, staying on task quite well, though it probably took him 45 minutes.
I asked him how he felt on the new med, and he said that he felt like it helped him pay attention and focus better than the concerta did, and it lasted longer. He said, "Is this supposed to be just like the concerta? Because I like it better!" I explained that with the concerta, the release is more steady, and with the ritalin LA, half is released in the first half of the day, and the second half in the afternoon...at least that is how I understood all of the literature...
Apparently, this one is not going to affect his appetite as strongly, but we shall see.
I sent notes to each of his teachers this morning, telling them that he has had a med change, and that I want to be told immediately if they notice a change in his attentiveness/focus and turning in homework. I gave my email or told them to send a note home with him.
I am really hoping that this will do the trick....
Great news about Chase's day at school.

It sounds like his day went really well! Ritalin SR works well for Brandon too!
I just checked my email....so far no notes from teachers...
That is sooooo awesome!!!!! Don't you just feel elated when they have a great day!
