Bed Wetting | ADHD Information

My daughter wet the bed for over a year.  It began after i was hospitalized for a week and she had to stay at grandmas since daddy worked nights.  It started after I got home and lasted a year then ended so I chalked it up to fear of losing mommy maybe.   Yes, there was a really long string on this topic a few months back. Lots of members saw a connection. You might do a search. It wasn't just at night, but during the day for some members. General potty training difficulties past the age of 5. You don't see these types of discussions on "potty training" forums---I spent a lot of time on those for a year when my son was 5. I came to the conclusion after the fact that it was a focus issue. I am not sure that occasional bedwetting is really a sign of ADHD though---more like prolonged persistent tolieting issues past the age when the deal should be wrapped up.My son, ADHD & almost 11, STILL wets the bed on occasion. No matter what we do before he goes to bed, nothing to drink & going to pee before climbing in, there are still some days when he does. Its usually when he's really tired and I guess just can't wake himself up. We've had him checked out earlier when it was more frequent, but both Dr.s said there was nothing wrong- just overactive bladder, & its common in boys. Whatever... But, it doesn't help when your kid wont go to sleepovers because he's afraid of peeing!!   IMHO don't really think its an ADHD thing, becasue I've talked to friends whose children are ADHD or ADD & they don't have this problem. So now I'm moving on from the topic of volatile morning with my son to the
correlation between bedwetting and ADHD. My son with ADHD had always
been a nightly bed wetter. At age 8, the alarm worked wonders and he has
not wet the bed for nearly 2 years. I've read that there is often a connection
between sleep disorders, included bed-wetting, and ADHD. My soon-to-be
6 year old, who is extremely independent (to the point of being defiant) and
quite wild at times, wets the bed occasionally.   I'm starting to wonder if he
is displaying ADHD behavior. Has anybody experienced the relationship
between bed-wetting and ADHD?None of my children, including the 2 ADHDers have wet the bed past the age of potty training....
