My 7yr old takes 20mg of adderallxr. It appears to be working well, but we are considering a dosage increase to see if there are any more benefits to be gained. His teacher says he's still having trouble with moving around the room during centers time and still doesn't really join in group activities. My concern is that he already has no appetite once medicated and is such a picky eater that he might lose more weight? Does the dosage effect this?
The dosage does seem to affect the appetite, but there are remedies...check out the thread "not eating" either in this board further down the page or in the hang out room...can't remember...there are lots of ideas there on how to get more calories into your child, and if that fails, there are appetite stimulants that can be prescribed to help.
Tenex (guanfacine) has some affect on appetite, as well as Periactin (Cyproheptidine).
