Combined inheritance? | ADHD Information

Doc Hollewell states that adhd is the highest "heritable" disorder there is.  ie genetics is definately a factor; among manyI personally think it's highly possible. I too could sit down and note different  signs of ADD (and even OCD) in each parent, one though that they both possessed was/is Impulsiveness. My mother is no longer alive, she was the biggest book worm ever! Books everywhere and always had a book she was reading. She did hyper focus I think because she, like me can read very fast the books that are of interest to her. So maybe she did have it, and didn't have a problem reading books that she loved (I love to read too, but if I get bored during a slow moment I will daydream and get stuck on a paragraph and re-read it over and over again for awhile) Maybe she did the same too... I'll never know.

My Dad's an Alcoholic, very impulsive, very scatter-brained to me, but I didn't live with him long so I don't know too much about him. Although I do see a lot of the signs in each of them now that I think about it.
I read somewhere that it is believed to involve genetics. From reading many posts here it does seem that often when a child is diagnosed a parent is commonly diagnosed later. I could also see learned behaivor from parent to child so It's hard to say for sure which might be your case.Do you think it's possible that ADHD/ADD can be the result of several genetic components?

My parents is not diagnosed with ADHD/ADD (not evaluated either..) but they seem to have some of my ADD symptoms, allthoug maybe not as much as me. But both my parents are completely unable to keep their house clean and tidy; allthough my father often complain about how untidy it is, he's the one who makes most mess. (He can within 30 minutes bring a room "back to normal" after my wife and I have cleaned it.

My mother must have some kind of "untidyness-blindness", she doesn't notice at all if a room is messy unless someone tell her to take a look (like I was before the meds.), but she's allso unable to clean properly, and her idea of tidying up is to make lot of heaps and sort everything without putting the heaps anywhere. And her parents (my grandparents) has told me she's allways been untidy but she never had any problems in school and she doesn't seem to have much concentration problems.

My father on the other hand when he was young is described like a quite "hyperactive" boy, who allway ran around doing more or less crazy things, like splashing water into concentrated acid (god knows where they got that from) just because they was told one should never do that (it "exploded" of course, but he only got hit with just one little drop, and the other kid who did the pouring (allthough it was my fathers idea, he let the other sod do the dangerous bit*) allso got away but sacrificed a thick winterjacket wich afterwards looked like a fishing net), and he often got himself into trouble and got beat up, probably cause he often taunted or teased people (and didn't know when to stop). But he doesn't seem to have much inattentiveness at all, only impulsiveness (which my mother more or less lacks).

So I'm wondering if I might have inherited the "components" of ADD from both my parents, or maybe they're both mild cases of ADHD/ADD too?

(* I can allso remember that when I was younger, I often got crazy ideas, but I usually let my slightly "crazier" friend (who's probably ADHD) test it first. I'm not stupid, you know.... )
