I'm the type that I would had to have called the school at least twice to see how he was doing throughout the day.
I did .... (once, anyway)
He's getting used to it slowly. And he's verbalising his worries which is a good thing, I thought he might not. At least with him talking about it we can work through them. He keeps saying he doesn't know where his classroom is so I keep reassuring him he will learn, and that he won't be expected to find it on his own for a while. Mentioned this to teacher and will also chat to the lady on the bus about it tomorrow, in front of him. My baby is growing up.
Is it a long bus ride? If so, maybe he could take along a hand-held game or a few action figures to keep him occupied? If these were things that he's only allowed to use on the bus, it may seem a treat. Of course, at school he'd probably have to give them to the teacher to hold during the schoolday to avoid possible desk-distractions, but it could work. I feel for you, I hate sending my son away to school all discombobulated!!
It IS quite a long ride, this is a good idea. I will give him something tomorrow and then tell him to give it to his teacher when he gets there to keep for him. Thanks!!
Yep - he's fine. He will get used to it - me too. And a bus ride is nice once you get used to it.I'm the type that I would had to have called the school at least twice to see how he was doing throughout the day.Let us know how his day went! Maybe once he got there things were oK?Don't worry Gutsy' I am sure these events will subside. I he just started in a new school . It will pass.
Keep us posted!
My 6yo DS started his brand new school this week. He has to take a bus to get there, this morning he woke up and the second he was awake tears were streaming, the eyes big and the mouth turned down, and he was screaming "I don't want to go to school" over and over. Still hearing it as the bus left. Two hours until he comes home, I'm so glad it's weekend tomorrow. Right now I feel I want to keep my boys to myself and no one else can have them! Of course when they come back, then that will change ...
