Does anyone know if Adderall itself can be or is being used specifically as an antidepressant alone?
I weaned myself off Wellbutrin after 300mg/day for 10 years, and after approximately 3 months I have not experienced any withdrawls or ANY depressive episodes interestingly enough.
However I do take Adderall for ADD - approx 25mg a day, average 3 days a week. Sometimes 5 days, or sometimes I'll go a week without it. So it's not as consistant as the Wellbutrin but I find this totally interesting as the depression episodes were almost debilitating. Now, none!?
Just wonderin'...
Oh, I'm 45 (Fem) w/stable home (no hay).
ANY feedback is appreciated.
I am at 90 mg of Adderall XR- 3- 30 mg capsules, 1 in the morning, the other 2 after lunch- (the bulk of my day requiring concentration and stamina is between 2pm and 9pm). I have been at this level over a year, and all is well. On weekends I take what they call drug holidays in which I take nothing. This keeps me from developing a tollerence to the drug. Drinking is a depressant, so do yourself and your children a favor, don't drink. I don't tell you this because I don't drink, (I am a recovered alcoholic) but because we suffer depression, it makes little sense to drink stuff to multiply our suffering, that would be less than smart, don't ya think? good luck pearogrlz. Boo Boo & Kidd Rock,
Thank you SO much for your stories. Since I wrote that original post, my depression has returned two-fold, so I have a new appt for re-evaluation tomorrow morning.
Kidd, your degree of depression, inibility to finish projects, etc. is VERY similar to mine although I never had a trip to the psych ward - yet! I do have a supportive family but I can't be "baby-sat" constantly.
Adderall still helps me in the same way as you both but I'm self-medicating and taking way more than before, and the wear-down time is hard. Consequently I drink more which I realize is totally defeating the purpose. Also, having two small kids who have to rely on a stable mom is difficult to say the least.
What , if I may ask, dosage(s) are you taking? How is it prescribed?
Thanks again
