This is an inspiring post. I wish I could have the same luck! I haven't had that same success with doctors here. I have been to two different ones and I don't feel they are hearing me (after all the information I have gathered from this wonderful site). I have again an appointment next wednesday 24 to see if I get something that can help my son better his behavior.
Excellent for you!!!
Great job!! How did you find him? I'd like someone to help me too!I went to the national CHADD site: www.chadd.org
Then I looked up my local CHADD chapter. The local CHADD (Chicagoland) Chapter web site had listings of local resources (with providers).
I don't know if every local chapter site has this info, but it's worth a try.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!
Twelve months ago, I didn't even know my son had ADD, and now...we have the MOST AWESOME TREATMENT PROVIDER!!!!!!
Making our way through all the uninformed (or plain dumb on ADD)generalists/nonspecialists--school counselors, social workers, psychologists, physicians, insurance, the behavioral healthcare "system"--was a royal pain in the patoot. But totally worth it and I think we are "home."
On Friday, my son had his 1st appt with Dr. Alan Graham, near Chicago, whose credentials (and lots of helpful info) are outlined in the following site:
My son loves him, I like him, and he really knows his sh**. He's gonna help us put together a 504 plan (http://www.chtu.org/504.html) will require the school to accommodate my son's special needs so he can SUCCEED. He even called me the "poster mom" for kids with ADD. Awwww... I'm blushing. Finally, someone who understands everything.
Parents:
DON'T EVER GIVE UP ON FINDING AND GETTING THE BEST CARE FOR YOUR KIDS. DON'T EVER GIVE UP ON YOUR KIDS. WHAT KIND OF LIFE THEY WILL HAVE IS ON YOU. THEY ARE YOUR LEGACY.

Way to go Artemis!!! I am so happy that you and your son have found this great doctor!
Good luck and keep us posted, maybe we can learn from you and what the doctor sets up for your son.....
