Unusual morning. | ADHD Information

Today I called my ds as usual for school. He usually wakes up at 6:30 am. Sadly, it was tough for him since he had trouble falling asleep yesterday; too hyper at night.  So he had a shower, got dressed, drank his instant breakfast, and my husband took him to school. He was so sleepy that he got out of the door without backpack and lunchbox, so I had to call him back to tell him what he was forgetting. He usually takes a school bus except Monday morning that is the only day my dh can drop him in school. Ten minutes after they were gone my husband called telling me that school was closed and that he was taking ds back home again. I called a friend so she could tell me what had happened and she said that last week they sent an information saying that today there was no class, besides all kids knew this because  the teachers told them. I didn't get this information, I guess ds lost it.

After all the effort it took for my son to wake up I ask him if he didn't remember this. His answer: "Oh, I forgot", then in an apologetic tone "I won't do it again, I am so sorry". I didn't know whether  to cry, or to be upset. I guess I wanted to cry, but I was a little upset too.

Just to vent.

I totally understand...my SDHDers would not remember either...luckily, there has always been another of my children in school at the same time, and THAT child would remember to tell me.

Was this a previously uncheduled day off?  I keep the lunch menu on my fridge, and when in doubt,  I look and see if lunch is on the menu for that day.  If there is no school, there is no lunch....

We also get monthly newsletters through the mail with a school calendar, so that helps.

Enjoy his day off, let him have a nap!

Martin Luther King day.  I am grateful my office is closed today too love days off. We don't celebrate that one here. It was teacher's day, but not all schools took it today.
