Adderall and heart rate | ADHD Information
Adderall bumped up my resting heart rate when I first started taking it.
If this is the same med that is prescibed over ritilan then yes it can, I just went to my dr the other day and had quesiton on switching my Ritilian to Adderall ( i believe was the name she used).
I have hypothyriod on top of everything else, so I am on meds that I have to be careful with...I believe it was the combo of the ritilan and thyriod meds that elevated my gland but she siad nothin in her medical books show that, but the alternate drug the adderalll will according to what she read, agian I am almost postive it was the addrel though.
She said it will affect your thyriod gland which could make you hyper or over active. So thats what I was told and I really think that is what, the ritilan but they wont tell me yes, they just say nothing supports it...If it is a stimulate then majority of the Stimluates will affect heart rate and also again possibly your thyriod so do be careful to check and double check when taking something new....
Could adderall increase my resting heart rate? I had an evaluation at the gym last weekend and my resting heart rate was 86! Yikes! I kind of thought it was because I was nervous, but I just took it again here at home with nothing going on and it was still in the high 80s. My blood pressure was also high (118/90) when they took that at the gym and I'm going to see the doctor about that, cause when I had it taken a few weeks ago before starting the adderall it was 94/68, which is pretty typical for me. So, I'll be asking him about the heart rate when I'm there, but in the mean time. . .
Anyone have any ideas?
Oh good lord, that is NOT bad at all! You're healthy as a horse!
My normal blood pressure is 125/85 and my normal heart rate is 82.
And that's when I am not taking drugs! When I took Ritalin, HR went up to 110 to 120 and BP went up to 160/95.
Stimulants increase HR and BP but in your case, you don't have anything to worry about!
Consult your doctor!
I know my heart 'feels' faster when I'm on Adderall but I don't know if it is as my doctor/nurse has never said anything about it. Many factors are involved, including your height and weight and dosage level.
The only medical advice you should trust is your doctor and even then you have to advocate for yourself because they could be wrong or ignorant. Good luck!

For most people, however, a consistent dose over a period of several months will eventually cause this side effect to taper off. If it doesn't, and you find that it bothers you then talk to your doctor about adjusting your dose and/or medication.
