Adderall versus Concerta? | ADHD Information

I got my adderal bumped up to 20mg in the AM and 20mg after lunch. I still clean more and organize, but it's not an obsession like it was when I first started the Adderal. I do however think that Adderall is not for me. I find that I focus more poorly now then ever before. Which is strange, because I can still finish projects. I just push everything else aside. But now I tend to drift off constantly when I am not working on a project.

For example: I took my niece and my 2 kids ice skating the other day. As my niece was talking to me and we were catching up on all times. She said that she noticed all I could do was stare at everyone around me, watching everyone but her. I never really could keep my attention focused on her for very long. I was listening to her, but I am such a people watcher that I just stared at all the people the entire time, and I believe by doing that, I missed out on a lot of great intimate bonding moments with my niece.

I also do that when I am driving. I am almost NEVER looking at the road ahead of me. I stare at houses, cars, building, trees, flowers, everything but the road that I am driving on. NOt good or very smart to do, but I just cannot help it. It's almost like I am extremely curious or nozy.

I wonder if Concerta would work better for me.

The driving issue is a safety concern. It can be a trial and error kind of thing to find the most appropriate treatment for your individual needs. You can ask the doctor for Concerta and if it does not work, either try something else or go back to the adderall.

Good luck finding effective treatment.

Have you tried the XR version of ADDERALL?? It was a much smoother day for me and it was nice not to worry about always taking more than 1 pill, Good Luck!

NO, I haven't. Geez, I didn't even know that they made an XR version of Adderall? Wonder why my doc didn't tell me about that? Hmmmm, well I will have to ask her about that. That would be exciting !!

Thanks for the info.

Well, I've been on Concerta since August, and I think it's great.  Talk to your doctor about it.

Have you ever tried Adderall before though?

I love the energy that it gives me for a few hours after I take it. I can actually get things done, without feeling so tired like I want to take a nap.

My concern is that the Concerta may not give me this big boost of energy that I need to get things done around here.

Thanks for your post too.
