When to switch doctors?? | ADHD Information

Share
My son has been with his psychiatrist and social worker (for counseling) for over a year now and NOTHING!!  He has been on every stinkin ADHD med out there you name it he has taken it. Now he is on Abilify and Focalin and it is like we dont give him anything at all. Just not working. My sons main problem: bursting out in the biggest pissed off fit in a blink of an eye. Like today....getting him to write his spelling words turned into a 2 year old tantrum....my son is almost 7 years old. He is not doing well in school some behavior but mostly not being able to focus and do his work. He just wants to fill it in and turn it in. I mentioned today to his counselor that we are wanting to switch to a different doc because this one just isnt getting it. there has to be someone out there who has dealt with children like mine. Any suggestions? We see his doc next Thursday...has anyone had a brain scan of any kind for their  child?? I think I may ask for a neurolgy consult as well????????  Oh where is a fairy god mother when you need one ??  :) Thanks in advance for anyone with words of wisdom. We need it!I always say if when in doubt it is time for you know your son best.  As for records you sign a release and they can obtain the records and talk to the new one so they see where you are coming from and do not slam the older one.  Tell them you wanted another opinion.  Listen to your brain and instincts. if the meds dont seem to be helping maybe try reading the alternative meds bords. They have been some good results with Focus and brightspark!
