Anyone out there on Adderall XR and Effexor?
I have been on Effexor 75 mgs for the last 2 months. Just diagnosed with ADHD (I am not Hyper) and was given Adderall XR 10 mg. I just increased it to 20mg. I am experiencing severe anxiety and don't know if I need to be on another antidepressant.
I have tried Paxil, Cymbalta and Lexapro prior for depression and none of them worked except for putting me in a completed zombie, sadated state. Effexor was the best for treating the depression alone. But now that I added Adderall XR to the mix, the anxiety, tension and incredible headaches are more than what I can handle.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Unfortunately (for me and for you) I am not currently on Adderall or any other stims...I have, however, been on Effexor XR for ~2.5 yrs, 75mgs up until september, since then 150 mg. I am still in the process of trying to get dx'd and treated...loooong story short, docs think I'm fine b/c I'm doing well in school (they don't see how I have to go an extra 100 miles to do that, though). but I suffer from anxiety and well, the effexor was for short-term depression and I personally don't think I need it anymore. My daughter who is 8 is on adderall XR. She is just 10mg a day right now. She has been frequently chewing on things like her shirt sleeves or small toys like plastic accessories.
Could this be a side effect from the med?
I have been on Effexor for 2 years now, first 150, now 300mg and I like it, except if I miss a day
I was using Concerta 56mg for 2 years but found it made me to tired in the evening. I doubled my Effexor to 300mg and was able to half my Concerta to 28mg. Still though i felt exhausted at days end, though loved the boost it gave me all day. BTW Concerta was a god send from the days of the Ritalin Rollercoaster .
I am now on Adderal XR 15mg, with dexadrine 5mg in the evening if needed. I find the Adderal doesn't make me as tired in the evening and an hour nap at 5 PM does wonders.
Effexor seems good for me since it address both serotonin and norepinephrine. I don't have anxiety from this and aslong as i don't miss a dosage of Effexor I feel fine; gone without it for a few days and what an awful feeling.
Not to helpful I suppose, just my experience.
