TICS | ADHD Information

MY SON HAS BEEN ON ADHD MEDS FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND HAS RECENTLY STARTED W/TICS (NERVOUS HABITS)! I AM WONDERING IF THIS HAS HAPPENED TO YOU OR ANYONE YOU KNOW, IF SO WHAT HELPS! I SPOKE W/HIS DOCTOR AND WE LOWERED HIS DOSE BUT HE SILL HAS THEM (NOT AS SERVERE) BUT THEY REALLY BOTHER HIM AND THE PEOPLE WHO ARE AROUND HIM!

Here is information on how tics come and go in kids:

Guanfacine can be given for tics. It can help with tics, can augment the stims for ADHD symptoms so the stim can be lowered, and can be effective for ADHD on its own:

I hope this information gives you something that you can discuss with the doctor.

I am not a kid but i am on concerta and i have developed a very minor tremor in my arm that show up only on EKG's and does not seem related to any heart stuff  - the doctor thinks it has to do with the medication?

I cannot find a lot of info on it - just thought i would mention it to you though.

Speak to your doctor about perhaps augmenting your stimulant with Tenex (guanfacine).  My son requires a high dose of Concerta and his psychiatrist recommended augmenting with Tenex to control tics.

My 8 yr old daughter was diagnosed with ADHD last fall. She is taking Adderall XR, 10 mg a day. It seems lately that she is chewing on things a lot more, her sleeves, small toys. It is becoming a problem because she has destoyed some small toys that were her sister's. I have scolded her for it, but she gets upset saying she doesn't understand why she wants to do it all the time

I am wondering, is the increased chewing a side effect?
