Daytrana - So far so good! | ADHD Information

Well, we started the Daytrana last Thursday and so far it's going great! We have had 4 good days of school and 4 good nights of homework. No battles to do homework or getting through it!

No other side effects yet, I am hoping and praying that we don't have any. She is on the 10mg patch and it seems to be enough! She has a red mark and a little bit of itching for about 10-15 minutes after the patch is removed.

I would definatly recommend it to try!

THANKS to everyone who gave advise and support! Nichole

Nichole, I'm glad you're having good results.  We are too, and it's wonderful not to have the nightly homework battles.  Good luck and I hope the success continues.

Hi I'm new here, and my daughter was just dx with adhd yesterday and her doctor would not put her on daytrana because he said the patch falls off if you touch it.  How sticky are they?  Thanks!!

Donna, I bumped the other daytrana thread for you, it is at the top now.

Donna,

My son has never had any problem with the patching falling off.  It's stickier than a band-aid.  It stays on just fine.

Lynn, it just sounds like you child is not on a high enough dose yet. What dose did he start at and was taking any meds. prior to Daytrana?Adhdadof2....My son was on 10 mg of Focalin XR and was put on 15mg Daytrana.  My doctor told me to cut one patch in half and try that.  I am concerned that the new dose is not a typical dose.  It is more like 22.5mg.  I will try this dose for a few days and try to cut it back to 20 mg.  We will see.  thanks to all have replied.I have heard it's not a great idea to cut the patches. They do make a 20mg patch. I know in the trials, patches were cut to figure out the best dose.  I do not think a dr would tell me to do something that was not ok.  Also, it seemed to work better than the 15 mg patch alone.  I am testing the patch and a half for 2 more days before I make a decision on the new dose.

Hi, my son has been on the patch for 2 days...it is like he is not on anything.  He seems to be extra wiggly and mobile!  Nicnac...did you find this to be true?  I am not sure how long it will take him to adjust.

The patch has been great!

Only problem I have is struggling to remove the protective liner.  The medication wants to come off the patch.

Did your physician mention the free 40 patch debit card?

Try putting them in the freezer first..makes them easier to work with!
