Switching from Daytrana to Ritalin LA | ADHD Information

My Ds had a chronic rash on his hips in reaction to taking Daytrana for about 3.5 months.  We tried different creams but it always came back and started itching enough that he started removing the patch.  Our Dr. recommended stopping as he was afraid he'd develop a sensitivity to the patch that would transfer to all forms of methyl.

My question is does anyone have experience with switching from Daytrana 15 mg. to Ritalin LA?  So far we do 20 mg. of the sprinkles, but I think we may need to increase the dosage because his teacher isn't seeing the focus and good behavior she saw w/the Daytrana.  Granted, it has only been a few days, but we saw the Daytrana "work" immediately.

I'm sad about his because we loved how long the Daytrana stayed in his system and that we didn't have to fight every single morning about meds.

ummm maybe try Focalin? That lasts a long time without having to wait 2 hours for daytrana to kick in.

Try to be patient and titrate up until you get to a dose that works...Chase is almost 11 and uses 60mg of Ritalin LA.  He loves it, says he likes the delivery system better than the concerta....I love it, he has a better appetite on it, and if he's happy, I am happy!  The only thing I noticed is he has some pretty major acid reflux, but I am leaning toward the fish oil I had been giving him as at least a major contributor, if not the total culprit.  The jury is still out for a few more days....

The ritalin LA lasts him from 8 in the morning until around 6 at night.
