You won’t believe it! Or maybe you will. | ADHD Information
My friendly neighborhood pharmacy story.
I was just finally diagnosed a few days ago. The psychiatrist had me on Wellbutrin for a while, because (he says) he suspected for a while that I might have ADHD. Now, with the diagnosis and my not feeling much diffrence in general on the medication, he decided to up the Wellbutrin to the highest dose (450mg) to see if changes anything before he goes the stimulant route.
So, off I go to my local pharmacy with my new higher dose prescription. The pharmacist, whom I actually like and has always been very nice and helphul takes the prescription in her hands. I am expecting my first dose of ADHD support.
Friendly Pharmacist: Why the higher dose, dear? It's not working well for you?
Geez: Well, actually, it's not that. I've just been diagnosed with ADHD.
Friendly Pharmacist: I hate when they do that!!! That's such nonsense!
Geez: Nonsense? ...but I've been diagnosed by a very reputable doctor, went through many tests etc....
Friendly Pharmacist: Are you kidding me? My daughter was diagnosed with autism as an infant, and she's fine and doesn't have any autism!
Geez: But...
Friendly Pharmacist: But nothing. You don't have ADHD, you seem so together to me. They just love putting labels on people, don't you know? ADD... ADHD... You're fine, dear.

Ugh! The nerve. I'm appalled that the Pharmacist would say something like that but not shocked.
"You seem so together" - I get that all the time, people just have NO idea.
me too.
i know that going up to the max dose before deciding if it works or not IS the gold standard of medicine. Of course not if there are negative side effects tath are dangerous or intolerable
pls keep us posted. ok?

And people like that are the reason I'm still not officially diagnosed...Oh my! The Nerve of some people... well, I'm not surprised, my own husband doesn't think I have ADHD, he just thinks I'm Lazy like him.

I would have asked the pharmacist when she obtained her MD. I would have been insulted and let her know weather by expression or body language.
