hi,i too have the first confrence next week, where the report cards are given out.i will not be steped on by the teacher hey she's only a person and i will do whatever for my child to be the best he can be.please let us know how the confrence went.lol that is a good one, i also realized that  i posted in the wrong spot yesterday, oh well shows you i didn't have enough coffee yet. Thanks for your advice. My position in these meetings is always to "kill them with kindness." After having worked in school's for a long time, and listened to the way teachers and other professionals will talk about parents, I learned that I need to get my point across in a definite but non-confrontational way. It frustrates the hell out of them, and it usually works. If anyone balks at anything you want to know or are asking about you can ask, " Is that a state regulation ? Is that a school board reg?"  Usually they are NOT, and they can't get out of it. My husband says to approach it like a business meeting- cool and collected. And if things don't go well, don't get (visibly) mad, just stand up, and say, " Thank you all very much for coming. This meeting is over, I think we need to go higher up." Hi everyone tomorrow is the big day, the first conference of the year, and i just have a bad feeling something is not going to go right. His teacher is very young especially for fifth grade, but she just doesn't seem to understand adhd very well. He keeps getting N's on English, and reading tests, and i tell her he needs help with this but just ignores it, i also have to remind her constantly about his iep, yikes. Keep your fingers crossed i can keep my cool tomorrow afternoon, at least my mom will be with me.
