Hi everyone. I am new to the boards and was wondering if there was anyone from the Metro Detroit area that could suggest a good ADD Doctor that prescribes medication. The search engines on the various ADD web sites weren’t very helpful (i.e. not much showing up in Michigan or they were "coaches"). I was diagnosed 10 years ago but stopped my medication a few years ago due to the stigma (yeah, I was tired of being looked at like I was a criminal every time I picked up my Ritalin) and the idea that I could treat it myself holistically with diet and exercise. Well, a few years without meds and I’m back at square one, actually -1 square one . These last few years have not been fruitful to say the least! Almost every aspect of my life has been negatively affected due to the extreme low self esteem and therefore depression I suffer from because of the symptoms. I want to go back on the medication but need a new Doctor, the great one I had years ago retired. I dread going through the whole process of sorting through to find a Doctor who doesn’t think I am insane and believes that this disorder really is legit. If anyone has any suggestions I would be more than grateful. Thanks.
Hello peas&love. I live in Monroe just south of Metro Detroit and I have been seeing a Doctor in Taylor for nearly 8 years. Not an ADD Doctor per say, but a psychiatrist who deals with ADHD patients. He is a very good doctor. If you are interested, here is his stuff.

Hi Kidd. This should help because I want a Doctor that is familiar with the problem. When I was looking years ago I ran across a few nay sayers that only made me feel worse about everything. Thanks so much for the info. Even though he isn't close to me I will check it out. I just need to see if he takes my insurance. Thanks again.
