Okay for the past 2 weeks it seems my Adderall xr isn't as effective as it used to be. I have been taking it for 5-6 months now, but all of a sudden it is different. I take 40 mg a day in 3 doses. I used to have energy, be in a good mood, attention oriented, but now... I am kinda blah, still get things done (but not that much energy), seems like it just doesn't work. It used to work better when I didn't eat, so I tried just not eating when I took it but that doesn't help. What is the deal here. Can anyone help me out?
Hiya Reneeadd. I have been on Adderall XR over 4 years. I was also taking mine in 3 doses and with the extended release factor, I found it was too gradual, like being thirsty and taking a drink of water...a drop at a time. Oh sure, you'll get your drink of water all the same, if you don't die of thirst before your finnished drinking it.
I take the first one after breakfast, and the other 2 in the early afternoon around 1:00-2:00 since 4:00pm - 10:00pm is the time I need to have my wits about me. Depending on your reqirements... for instance; if you need the bulk of your concentration from 9 to 5, take 2 in the am and 1 in the pm. It seems to work well for me, as well as plenty of water and fairly well ballanced diet. I take 90 mg- 30 in the am, 60 in the pm. Dosage is something you'll have to work out with your doc. good luck
reneeadd, it sounds to me like the Adderall may still be working fine insofar as what it's supposed to do for maintaining your focus, etc.. it sounds to me like it's the side effects (energy boost and the psychological lift that the boost gives you) that you're now missing. My experience with Adderall sounds similar to yours... I no longer feel many of the "felt" side effects because, I assume, my body has adjusted. But my brain still enjoys the direct benefits of the Adderall in improved patience, attention, etc... Perhaps your doctor will have some insights for you.
ive been taking adderall xr for 5 months now. i just noticed the same. its working, just not as much. it could be that you need to have it upp'ed maybe 10 more mgs because your body is getting tolerant of it.
i have to get mine upp'ed in feb cause it def. isn't workin anymore. just a thought, though.
Thanks for all the feedback. I just hate how I feel on it now. I am not sleepy on it, but my energy is just not as much there anymore and I am just mopey/blue..don't much feel like being around anyone and I am just irritated easily. I really really liked how I felt when I first started it 4-5 months ago. I even try to drink caffeine just to help the boost. I get up at 5 am every morning so I have to take the first dose early then the 2nd about noon and the 3rd around 4:30. I don't know what to do. I just want the old feeling back. I was so encouraged bc I finally felt happy but now just mopey and blah. (I have tried anti depressants before add xr none worked, that is why my drs reached the conclusion of adhd.
I feel the same way. I feel like I am just in a funk. I am sleepy and motivation is at an all time low. I am having problems concentrating at work especially. I take Concerta once a day. I go back to the doc soon so I will tell him and see what he says. I came here to find people that are having the same problems and it does help to know I am not the only one. I appreciate your posts.
I started feeling worse yesterday because my friends are mostly phD's so sometimes I just feel inferior when I am around them. They do not "Do" anything to make me feel bad; I guess I am jealous because school was such a nightmare for me.I did not find out I have ADD until a few years ago.
I have been taking adderall xr for about 8 months and I have come to realize that I cannot take it with my synthoid in am. I need to wait at least half hour after synthoid. I take 15 mg adderall xr. made me feel too scattered. Now I can concentrate.
