Make sure that the doctor explains the posible interactions between asthma meds and the ADHD med that he suggests for your son. You have to feel confident and comfortable with the doctor's judgement and your own knowledge of what to expect. This will make starting treatment easier. Good luck tomorrow and keep us posted on what the doctor sugests. There are many people here to lend support and provide information on their experiences.
Barb, I just went thru this myself. I was terrified of the side effects. My daughter was just put on 20 mg of Metadate CD, and aside from a few stomachaches, she's done remarkably well. Her focus is a lot better. I did not give her medication on Saturday, and I noticed a big difference. I was afraid too, and it's a solid concern to have! Each child is different, and you can only moniter and insist on input from the teachers. Her teachers were not ready to tell me how she did on the first day, I had to call the school to get answers. Just be persistant. Good luck. :)Hi, tomorrow I take my son to the doctors. My son is 9 and has ADD and has had Asthma since he was aprox 1. I haven't put him on medication because I have been so worried about the side affects. Well after going to school and meeting with everyone I decided I want to try and help my son get focused better. He really isnt that hyper and it's more attention issues. I am just so worried about what side affects that will harm him. Any Suggestion to help me feel a little bit better
Barb
