O.K. this is frustrating......I take adderall IR for my add/inattentive and just started lexapro, which seems to be helping for the anxiety. Also, the Doc prescribed Klonpin for anxiety as needed, but that only seems to make me sleepy and ready to for bed. So, what the heck can I do about these negative feelings, depression and general bad mood that I get when rebounding? I used to take xr, but I couldn't seem to control when it peaked as it didn't last long, but still had remainders of it in my system when I took my afternoon dose.
I hate this!!!! Why is it that adderall works sooo great for the ADD, but seems to cause soo many other problems......I need suggestions......SOON!!!!!
Thanks and sorrry for the extremeness!
My son has been on Adderall XR for the past yr and we are finding that his rebounds are getting worse(he's 8). We are trying a half dose of Dexerdrin for when he comes home from school. Today was the first day and honestly it was a totally different kid. For the first time in their lives my 2 kids sat at the table and did homework together with out fighting. It brought a tear to my eye to see it but who knows what tomorrow will bring.
I take adderall IR, and when it starts to wear off, I get really tired, which may be attributed to the fact that I take it towards the end of the day after work, to help me study for school.
I hate the down period after it wears off, but since I take it at a good time, I usually just go to sleep, or sit around and do nothing.
Plus I wouldn't try to do much during that period, because I get anxious and nervous, sometimes depressed. Watching t.v. playing video games, eating, and stuff like that is good. But stay away from the internet or social interactions if you can.
lynch1000s39114.5028009259Good advice! If you don't mind my asking, what is your dosage per day?I am 40 yrs old and have taken dexedrine for 10 yrs for adhd. I just wanted you to know that the drug itself does create a euphoric feeling and would make anyone pretty much happier. It does however have negative side effects and has taken me 2 yrs to get my chemical balance back where my body can make its own endorphines without the dexedrine. I'm just saying be careful to not let him take that for too long. Hes too young to deal with a life long depression thats left when taken off of dexedrine.
I just explained my view on another post by buggirl here about how the adderal doesen't so much lighten my mood as much as it simply heightened my awareness. If something kind of sucks, and I become more aware of it, it sucks big time. So if someone is normally on the depressive side proned to dwelling on negative circumstances, a drug like adderall could heighten that persons awareness of the negative circumstance. I used to take Prozac with my Adderall for that reason. I am a depressive, or was anyway, but have been just using Adderall for a few years now and its been good. Keep plugging at it, you'll find an answer.landtheplane,
I have the EXACT same problem with rebounding. Previously I turned to alcohol to make the transition easier but later it made things worse of course. But I'm under treatment with a new doc and am trying different things. I already take Neurontin for anxiety and he recomended I up my dosage to ease the Adderall rebound. It also helps a lot with the alcohol cravings which has helped me drastically reduce my intake. It's nice to wake up without a headache for a change!
He also started me on a very low dose of Remeron for depression. I have to take it at night as it makes me VERY sleepy!! I can't imagine getting use to this medication during the day but if it beats the depression I'll try my best.
