What the *&@!* is rebound? | ADHD Information

I read a lot here about the rebound effect, but it's like reading some secret society's notes, everyone knows the code and no explanation is needed.

Can you, good ADHD people,  please explain what you mean by that?

I am newly dx'd and about to start taking Ritalin 5 mgX2, and hoping that my doctor will switch me from Wellbutrin (major thumbs down for me) to Effexor.

Should I expect this rebound (after I understand what it is )?

Rebound.

Also known as coming down.  For Ritalin and Amphetamine like drugs, you feel good about yourself while medicated.  People seem more reasonable.  Rebound is when your decrease the medication, or stop taking the medication, then you don't feel so good about yourself, and other people seem more unreasonable.

The pharmeceutical community does not like to talk about reboud, or withdrawal or coming down, because that is a disadvantage of starting the drug, is that you will have to go through the rebound period, sometime.

If you are withdrawing, then you might try to drink extra coffee, or some other substitute medication to level you out.  Watch for feelings the people seem to bve unreasonable to you.  Sometimes other people may seem very unreasonable, and need to be yelled at or pushed.  Keep a note in your pocket for at least 3 days to Stop.  Some meds withdrawal cycles over 3 weeks.

I was bound to be miserable, but then I took my stuff, and everything was ok... till it started wearing off.  So then I was re-bound to be miserable.
