Sending you a hug.
Your family has been through alot. I am glad that there is now a diagnosis so you can find a more suitable treatment plan.
So sad....
Please keep us updating.. Your family will be in my thoughts...
You're in my thoughts and prayers too. I agree with Bethann, now that you've got a diagnosis, you'll start making progress. It may still be bumpy, but it's better than the two-steps-forward-one-step-back that you go through when you don't have a correct dx. Good luck!I am so sorry for you sadness.
I would be feeling the same way you are if it were my son. But there is good news with a correct diagnosis. Whenever somebody has bipolar and it goes undiagnosed/untreated but they treat ADHD, it exasborates the bipolar. It sounds like that is exactly what was happening with your son. Once he starts the correct medication and has the correct diagnosis, your son will be fine. He still may have adhd, but they need to treat the bipolar first, which is what they are doing.
All those things that were happening before will stop now that he has the correct diagnosis
I hope he is back tomorrow, my heart would ache too! Stay near these boards for some moral support!!
And please let us know what happens, I like knowing how everything works out, especially something so close to your heart!
Last time I was on the board was getting ideas and support on meds for ADHD and my 10 yr old and my 6 yr old. The crawling helped neither, but my youngest who was Dx'd with the ADHD last year in kindergarden has completly changed. He doesnot have that same behavior or attention issues AT ALL. So I think that was a misdiagnosis.
My 10 yr old, on Straterra, Zoloft, and Abilify, got out of control X 3 weeks, ran away from home in the snow, shorts, no shoes, etc..poor decision making skills, ran out of class in school, got in trouble for bulling, etc...cursed at me, got physical in a rage at me, all these things are new to us. So we admitted him into the mental hospital here for kids, he's been there 1 week. They believe he has no ADHD, no depression, no anxiety disorder, but BIPOLAR. So they have stopped the abilify, the stratterra, and keeping zoloft for the next 30 days then wean off that too, and started him on resprodol (spelling?) I see a difference in him, but BUT he's there and now home.
He may come home tomorrow. I have missed him terribly, and hope this is right, and I have my boy back to us soon. He was saying he was going to kill himself, left a note and had a plan to to it.
10 YEARS OLD. Sad.
