Food habits | ADHD Information
This may sound odd, but do any of you get these strange food cravings that last 2-3 weeks or longer? Ever since I could remember I would get into these food patterns of eating the same thing daily. I don't know if its some type of flavorful & exciting food that would get me into the pattern or even if its related to the boredoms of regular food while having ADD or not. You would think I would get bored with the eating patterns, but I always do it. Who knows, maybe I can't concentrate long eanough to cook
When I was a teenager I would get cravings for steak and eat it daily for like a week, or eat this really spicy chili at the college every day of school.
Right now I have been on a sushi craving for the past 2 weeks and picking some up at the supermarket when I have a few bucks.
An ADD trait? or just a peculiar ME trait? Pass me the chopsticks!! :)
The other thing I do..my boyfriend and I order weekly cooked meals from a meal service because neither of us can stand still long enough, nor concentrate long enough to make more than a TV dinner. We are using "What's 4 Dinner", a local meal service here in Florida. Has anyone here had experience with food services? And if so, does it help you with your ADD/ADHD? It has helped my boyfriend and I immensely and the food is awesome. Maybe not what I could have cooked us, but definately excellent. This is not one of those Jenny Craig or Nutri System kinda thingies. It's just regular home cooked meals. Just wondering if anyone here deals with them at all.
Whenever I get a sushi craving I go to the pet store and stick my head in the fish tank. If I open my mouth just right, the fish think its a coral reef and rub up against my teeth to get algae off their backs, and then become snacks.I think it's emotional eating myself .Especially if it goes on for weeks.
Certain emotions will cause you to have certain cravings.
Sometimes it may be a vitamin deficiency but i would assume these would only last a couple of days.
many foods are highly addictive. Fatty, salty and sweet ones.
I get stuck on certain foods too, but I come from a family of eating disordered people and thought it was stemming from that. Right now it's fresh pineapple and I hate to admit it, but right now my tongue just hurts from eating so much of it.
I went though one phase were all I ate was Kashi cereal with fresh strawberries. That lasted two months and was probably the longest.
The idea of a food service is interesting, but I'm really particular about how my food is prepared and the nutritional contents so I can't really see myself using one.
Still craving sushi. LOL Ate some last night. hehe.
Kidd Rock sure loves sushi too from the sound of his fish tank adventures.
Ha ha had to think about that! I would probably eat it!
What if the candy bar fell on raw chicken?
Maybe it is add and maybe it is because we hyperfocus or cant get into a habit of cooking proper meals. We eat out alot for this reason. I have a massive sugar addiction which I think was my way of trying to stimulate my brain.
Also I have slight ocd type ways with food. Like if I see raw chicken it usually puts me off eating it. It is not a germ thing because if a chocolate bar fell on my floor I would still eat it. but food that looks ugly like raw meats or smells strong or is on or a day after the sell by date I find hard to eat. I know there is nothing wrong with it as i will happily feed it to my kid but it just turns my stomach. does this sound like mild ocd???
i was so fustrated with my daughter yesterday . So I really stuffed my face.It was healthy stuff but I knew it was purely emotional.it somehow took the rage away.

etc etc etc
no idea if it's add or not, i always thought it was part of my obsessive-type personality!

Sometimes I have month long cravings for Pizza Rolls, Cheez-it's, Pepsi, Code-Red mountain dew, twizlers pull and peals, bagel bites... all depends how i'm feeling that month.
