Daytran Patch on Wrong Hip? | ADHD Information

Share
DD wears her patch in almost the same spot everyday, she does not like it on the other hip. We have had no problems with her wearing it like this so far, d she has been doing it for over a year, so I would not worry about it. I guess we are lucky as she has never gotten a rash or any irritation from it.Babygonz--ds has been on daytrana for five months.  It is a godsend.  Unfortunately we have some skin "issues".  There is always a mark the next day from where the patch was the day before.  We put these patches all over, even on his butt.  When we put one on the same exact spot then it is more irritating to ds.  Just be careful.  And stock up on diaper rash ointment.  My ds (9) keeps a bottle of it by his bed and when his hips get too irritated he will put some on before bed.  Good luckI accidentally put my son's Daytrana patch on the same hip as yesterday.
Should I remove it and put a new one on the other hip of ds? Anyone ever
do this? Thanks. I feel better. We are so new to this and I didn't want to mess it up.
His skin has been fine - so far. I just want to keep it that way.

Did you guys read anything about the Daytrana patch having better results
after 4-5 weeks of use? I did a search and it said that after 4-5 weeks, the
Daytrana patch works even better and releases more meds due to better
absorption by the body - or something to that affect. It also said that due to
this, some patients need to go to a lower dosage patch after 4-5 weeks. I
am going to ask ds's doctor at our next appointment. This would be great if
it is true.We are loving this patch.  Hope it works as well for you as it is for us.

I also read something similar and to tell you the truth I stumbled upon the article because I was actually wondering about that.  Ty had been on 30 since he started it several months ago and was great at first then he started getting more and more anxious, picking at his fingers his hair his clothes constantly so I looked on the internet and in a PDR which is a physicians drug reference book and it said it can build in the system over time because it is transdermal route (on the skin and absorbed that way by the body)  So when we went to ped dr last week cause ty was sick i told him i would like to try going down to 20.  He just started today so i have nothing really yet to go by but i am going to watch him.  Wouldn't it be great though to get to actually decrease a med after awhile instead of increase.

I will let you know how it goes. Wish us luck, so far the patch has been the greatest thing we have done

My patches dont ever stick that well. They are only 75% percent on at the end of the day and plus im seeing no benefits on the 30mg patch. Getting the backing off without peeling off some adhesive, the red spots, and the adhesive residue makes it a chore to use. I guess im the only one who doesnt love the patch haha. im so used to just taking a pill I guess. hahaha that part about the creative names just made my day . Today I put the patch in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes and that made the backing come off like nothing. It seems to only stick to the backing if you let it warm up in your hand, so bend and peel faster than an add child when he hears the recess bell. Random note: ty and thai rhymes I just thought of that.

Don't get me wrong, there are several mornings that I call the patch bad names and am glad my kids are not up yet to hear me.  The adhesive residue is a pain in the butt also but Ty soaking in soapy water seems to help it come off better.  The red spots are definately an issue here also, but with an over the counter cortisone, like cortaid and a real thick creamy moisturizer like cetaphil cream they usually go away ok, but for us the good outways the bad and I will just keep getting up earlier than everyone else to do the patch so they don't hear all of the creative names I have come up with when trying to peel the backing off.  jodie
