I have tried a chart with points but just kept getting lazy with it. I think actually seeing the marbles will have an impact.
Things are just really getting out of control and home and school.
He has a slew of referrals from school. They write them and mail them to me, which seems really stupid since by the time I get them he forgets what happened and his versions is usually different from theirs. 2 days in a row I had to pick him up from school in the office. Yesterday he was being really ornery and was screaming for no reason at the top of his lungs. Then he went under the conference table and was barking like a dog.
At home meltdowns and rages are getting more frequent. Something just has to give.
kemi39122.3850347222I got my marbles in the craft section, they also had Flat irridescent ones that dd liked alot.I am using ziploc containers for the in and out box.cheap and efective!Darn! I was at Walmart tonight (before I ever even read this post) looking for marbles. There was even a lady working the toy department, so when I couldn't find them on my own, I asked her where they were....She told me they don't carry any! I know Target carries them, but you only get about 20 for a dollar.
I saved two canning jars. DD plays softball and soccer. I downloaded a picture of a soccer ball off the internet and I thought I would use that for the "In" jar and label it "GOALS". I also downloaded a picture of a softball and thought I would use that for the "Out" jar and label it "STRIKES". Now all I need is those darn marbles!!
I just have to do soemthing drastic.
It has been really difficult because part of it is his medicine failing and I know some of it is not his fault.
thanks! lol i was kind of thinking of heading there (or hobby lobby)
i'll try the marbles first, keston usually does well wiht money too.
toy department, but we had to ask an employee....they were down on a bottom shelf, in a net bag....My son gets to go to the dollar store or if he did really good the thrift store for a better slightly used toy when he gets a certain amount of marbles each week. He has been a rough rut the last couple weeks so no trips to the dollar store.Yeah, well I picked him up from school and he is suspended yet again for 2 days, Monday and Tuesday.
Off to go buy some marbles.
Wal mart....99 cents for 100...
Chase responds better to money though...I give him 50 cents each day he remembers to get his planner signed, and 2.50 for each week he completes his assignments and turns them in on time and gets a form (that I made on the computer) signed....he can make a week that way, 2 weeks and he has done really well....only forgot to get his planner signed once or twice and remembered all of his assignments both weeks...
i use the colored rocks that people use in the bottom of vases. he calls them marbles and i found them in the craft section at wal mart. this reward system has worked great for my son just keep at it. i took him yesterday after picking him up after school to walmart and he got to spend 25 dollars of his reward money. he really enjoys that. i hope that yall have as much success with this as i have.I would think if you looked in the pet section, you could get some of those pretty glass fish tank decrative glass thingys...I think that they are flat like edbson metioned....but I found mine at walmart last fall in the toy section.....We are also about to try the marble system, I have been working on setting up the board. We are including our 6yo daughter as well, figured what the heck it couldn't hurt. We have varied it a little bit though. We are going to use pennies. They get the money motivation without paying out a lot. Thankfully at their age they think or 2 is rich for them. Any ideas on what should go on the good side and what should go on the bad side. I would love any ideas at all.we have ten princess beads for our 2 girls.
when they do good sharing and act nicely they get 1 princess bead, when they own all ten we take them out to a restaurant they choose.
it works well enough that behaviour has changed and we are not spending too much on going out to dinner!
