generic adderall not working well | ADHD Information
Hey Breal,
I might have some helpful imformation about your concerns. The reason
that Brand Name drugs are expensive is because that company is the one
that put all the work into developing it. After the patent or whatever is
over, then other companies can start to make it as well. The 'generic'
meds are so cheap because they didn't have to put all the funds into
developing the drug in the first place. I have read that a generic drug has
to be within %20 of the Brand Name drug's potency, which means it can
be %20 above or below the Brand Name's strength.
"They" say that the generics are the same exact thing as the Name Brand
drugs and the ingredients of the drugs may be the same BUT, the 'grade'
or quality of the ingredients may be a factor in the overall quality of the
medication.
Also, the "time-release" mechanism from the Brand Name to the generics
can be different, which means the drug will probably have a different
effect on a person.
As far as having your Adderall work some days and not on other days
may be the time at which you take it. Taking Adderall with food can
lower it's potency, decreasing it's beneficial effects.
About hormones coming into play with the effectiveness of the
medication, I couldn't really tell you exactly. However, I can say this, and
I'm sure you've heard a lot: Everyone reacts differently to medication.
The issue of hormones affecting Adderall may be an interesting thing to
look into though.
I hope some of this helps!
ericIm not sure of everything that can effect the adderall and how it works with your system, but I do know for sure that your metabolism plays a big part in that. Talk to your doctor about it and see what happens.
I just got back on adderall about a month ago, I tried adderall XR at first and I didn't like it. I couldn't sleep no matter when I took the capsule. Now I am taking the generic tablets, 30mgs twice a day, and I don't really notice much affect! When I was on adderall a year and a half ago I was taking the name brand, at 40mgs twice a day, and that worked great! Now I am very disapointed and discoarged that my meds are not working for me. Some days I do feel some affect, I am focused and have an agenda in my mind of the tasks I need to accomplish, but the affect is still only to a certain extent, and most days I just feel bored and I don't want to do anything, I have no motovation and I am depressed. Does anyone have any ideas to why this is the case? They say that the generic is is the same as the brand name just cheaper, but I feel there has to be a huge difference in the affectivness and the quality. Does anyone have more information on the difference between the name brand and generic? I am also wondering why somedays it works better than others. Any ideas? Can what you eat, what you have planned for the day, and your horomones be factors in the overall affect of the medication?
