Dexedrine Abuse | ADHD Information
kidd- tinnitus is ringing in the ears I believe.
migrations: I believe that dexedrine was first marketed as a diet pill before they realized that it helped ADHD as well. That could explain your stomach issues. At the doses you were taking, it is no wonder you don't feel able to eat.
The other posters are right. The fact that you began abusing the med almost immediately is a huge red flag. Go and get help for your own good.
Here is the best help I can offer. Suffer, and remember well the sick and twisted gut wrenching pain, the backache, headache, and uh... wavy tinnitus??? (what the hell is that?) Well, no matter, if your an addict then the memory of the hell you go through will be forgotten by the time you go get the next perscription filled. If you get 60 15mg tablets that averages out to 2 per day. Your taking 2 to 2 1/2 days worth in 1 day. If you think the headache, backache, tummy ache is troublsome, the long term damage to your nervous system and organs will bring hell on that makes 'wavy tinntus' look like a trip to Disneyland. You have been on dex for 3 months, and have abused it since you started, so I'd say theres a good chance your an addict in which case you should leave the dex in the trash and see about trying some non-stimulant approaches, and consider going to a Narcotics Anonymous meeting. I only tell you this out of personal experience. Get some help. My contact info is in my profile if you wish to talk more. Take care K_R4444Unfortunately dexedrine is a very addicting drug and has a high abuse rate. Stopping the medication cold turkey is going to give you withdraw symptoms, just as coming off of any other heavy stimulant would leave you. Working yourself off of the medicine would probably be the best way to get off of the meds.
You have a very very serious problem and you should definitely get yourself some help. Basically what is happening is your body is used to feeling that hyperfocus/hyperactivity feeling from taking 75mgs in one day. So when it doesnt have that amount, your body is going to get mad at you, thus the withdraw symptoms.
You have a few options:
One: Stop the medicine directly and give your body time to recuperate. You will go through a few days (at most) of hell, but you will eventually start to return to normal. I am not exactly sure of the halflife of dexedrine, so I dont know when it will fully leave your body.
Two: Wean yourself off of the medication by taking less and less each day. Do not take more than half of what you have been taking, you are taking way too much at one time.
Three: Check yourself into a detox clinic and get yourself some help. Abusing stimulants such as dexedrine to the point you are at is extremely unhealthy and unsafe. As KID said, you are going to do yourself more harm for that nice buzz than you can afford.
If you still continue to have the symptoms you described, see a doctor. You dont want something to develop into a very serious condition.
Every time for about 3 months now I have been perscribed my dexedrine I have taken a little much and ran out rather quickly.
I am perscribed 60 15mg pills. On friday I took five, then on saturday I took 4. I didn't sleep all weekend. I took 2 on monday, but tuesday it got very bad. I took one pill every hour for 9 hours all day.
I stopped completely on tuesday for my health. It is now thursday and I am very very messed up. my neck hurts like hell for some reason, the muscles in the back of my neck. I have a horrible headache. I have odd wavy tinnitus. I can't eat anything or my stomach feels like it will explode. I have in general confusion. I threw away my pills and refuse to get anymore.
Is there anything I can do to at least calm these symptoms at all? I just want to feel normal again. Please help.
