Difference between Adderallxr and Ampheta | ADHD Information
What is the difference between Adderall xr and Amphetamine salts? My doc today took me off Adderall 10mg 1 in the morn and put me on the A salts 10mg twice a day.I also take 300mg of Wellbutrin in the morn and a .5 i think xanax in the afternoon.
When it all absorbs at once does it last 5 hours? If so then I dont understand whats the difference?Do you take either one?If so do you think one is better than the other in any kind of way? Thanks for the reply and help.Shane
Both versions are supposed to last 5 hours. With XR another dose waits undesolved in your stomache then breaks down and releases at the 5 hour mark. I think XR is a little less "speedlike" and it doesn't have, at least for me, any rebound (bad feelings when the drug wears off) I don't take XR because I can't pee when I'm using it and it causes me sexual side effects, nether of which I get on normal adderall. I would rather take XR I think. I'm way beyond wanting to feel the 'feeling" of amphetamines.
Adderall XR is timed release. The first dose is absorbed all at once, the second dose 5 hours later.
Normal adderall (amphetamine salts) is absorbed all at once. Ampheta is the generic name for the BARR's company's generic.
I think the idea behind the short release is that it gets out of your system faster and you can go to sleep. I take the long acting one in the A.M. and the short acting one in the afternoon. I sleep like a baby now.
