Hello Friends,
My son is 6 and has recently been diagnosed with ADHD. Although I hate labels, I was kinda glad when I found out because it really puts the pieces in the jigsaw for me.
The doctor has not yet recommended medication but has recommended we try diet change and Efalex. Also, more structure and boundaries.
I was wondering if anyone had any further info on what's good and what's not good diet wise and any other natural therapies that have worked for you.
Best wishes from Sydney, Australia.
Jenni
Welcome to the board and yes starting out with behavior mod and diet is a great place to start, meds should be for when all else fails. How about the feingold diet or the elimination diet? You should be able to google itwelcome, this is a great board-lots of knowledge here. read everything that you can and make decisions based on that, what will be best for you and your child.
we currently are using the easy child software here at home. you might want to check that out as well as ogram's marble system:)

Hi Jenni
Welcome, You will find lots of support and information here. You might look at the alternatives section for diet and alternatives to medication.
Welcome! There is a lot you can do with diet, as Vickie said, check out the Alternatives to Meds section of this board. We do not medicate and manage the disorder well with both diet modifications and supplements.
