Strattera dosage is based on weight, not symptoms. You have to make sure there is an adequate ramp period, and that you start on the lowest dose, 10mgs.
It does take 4-6 weeks one the target dose is reached to see full effectiveness, but otherwise is a wonderful med.
My son has been on Strattera for about six weeks. No change at all. I hear it sometimes doesn't work. Hoping to see something soon, or I am going to have to go another route.
My son (age 11 now) was on Strattera last year briefly. It helped his focus, but not the hyperactivity, or was it vice versa!!? We weren't happy with it, though my son was. He said he felt more relaxed and had an easier time sleeping on this medication. I don't know if this helps at all. My son started strattera when he was 12 or 13. Ended up going into full blown ocd. ended up having to have him locked up in a hospital to get him off the drug and on to somthing else and get him to get over the ocd. nightmare of my life. be carefull with this crap!Hey,Been on Adderall XR 30 mgs for 6 weeks. Great at first but now completely the opposite. I am always crabby, short tempered, can't formulate my thoughts and down right miserable. Stopped taking it 2 days ago and feel no different.
Anyone tried Straterra? Interested in this as it's not a stimulant.
Feel miserable and don't know what to do. Going to see my psch dr in 2 weeks but afraid to keep trying different meds.
I'm on it, but still too early to give much of a report. I started out on 40mgs and upped to 60mg 3 days ago. At first I was extremely tired, yet felt like I had some energy to get things done. However, my eyes were strained and I felt like I couldn't focus mentally on ANYTHING that required actual thinking. Yesterday day 2 on 60mg I was actually able to get some work done (I have my own Graphic Design Business) and today was better.. so I'm hopeful that soon it'll all come into focus for me as my body adjusts to it.
