What kind of side effects did you have? If you dont mind me asking. Today is day 2 and I've had no side effects yet but I'm also weaning of Lexapro at the same time. I wonder if that could help with the side effects. The only side effect I've read from the brochure is nausea. How long did it take before you felt differently on Cymbalta?
Thanks for sharing,
Tracy
I had nausea so I had to eat when I took the med. Then it surpressed my appetite which was good because I lost about 8 lbs in 1 month. But the it kept me from sleeping and I would have crazy dreams. I asked my dr for something to help me sleep because when he gave me the med he said that was one of the bad side effects. I started taking ambien cr for sleep and after about a week it was like I wasnt even taking anything for sleep. I started getting nausea all of the time whether I ate or not. Finally, I started throwing up and had diahrrea so I decided to let my dr know that I wanted to stop taking it.
Every med effects everyone different. Maybe you wont have extreme side effects that you cant tolerate because I said it made me feel wonderful for awhile but it just got to the point that the side effects out weighed the good so I had to stop taking it.
GOOD LUCK!
Has anyone tried cymbalta? My dr just switched me from Ambilify & Lexapro to this new drug because I've gained over 40 lbs in 2yrs. She thinks that the lexapro wasn't helping my severe inattentive ADD but maybe making it worse. I'm on 60 mg of Adderall XR and still getting sleepy around 2ish. She also gave me a rx for 10mg of the short acting adderall for when i feel sleepy at 2.
Anyone have any thoughts positive or negative about cymbalta?
Thanks,
tracy
The Abilify is likely the cause for weight gain as that is one of the common side effects.. My 9 yo gained 45 lbs in 2 months on Abilify. You might want to check it out.
Isn't Cymbalta a sleeping pill?
Edbson,
At 1st she thought it was the Abilify so she cut me down to 2.5mg-M,W,F. But after 3 months and still weight gain she is beginning to think it is the Lexapro. My eating habits are the same as it was 2 years ago before I started on the Lexapro. I started taking Abilify 1 yr after starting the Lexapro. She thought it was my thyroid but my blood work came back completely normal.
Cymbalta from what she told me is a new drug thats only been on the market for about 1yr. It is used from depression/anxiety. Since my bi-polar is extremely mild, she is more concerned at this point with my anxiety/inattentive add/weight gain.
I have tried cymbalta after being on lexapro for about 3 yrs. It worked wonders. I loved the way it made me feel. I had so much energy but I also had alot of bad side effects that I just could not get used to. So I had to stop taking it and start another med.
