I am glad you are seeing positive results. It is hard to keep going if you have side effects initially (as you did on the adderall).
I am just happy that there is effective treatment (and a great board to find out about such things) to help our kids out through maturity (and beyond as needed).
i haven't been posting as much as normal lately, but i thought that i'd do an update today. my 9 year old dd with adhd was switched to ritalin LA this past week. she is seeing results on the ritalin-short acting, without the side effects that we were seeing on the adderal, but we are now glad that she won't have to go to the nurse's office anymore at school to get her noon dosage.
i cannot say enough as to how our family has benefitted since our dd started meds. melatonin is working wonders as well:) she is in bed and she shuts off her light by herself at 9 pm and instantly falls asleep and stays asleep. with ritalin her grades have gone up substantially and she says that school has gotten much easier. yeah! i am anxiously waiting for her school conference in 2 weeks. i briefly talked to her teacher this past week and she says that there has been a big improvement.
at home...she is much easier to deal with. she is getting along with all of us much better:) the lying has stopped...the cheating, etc at board games has stopped...and the arguing that she used to do has diminished...
with friends, i'm noticing that she is picking up on the social cues/facial expressions more. her teacher says that she's seeing more girls seeming interested in being my dd's friend.
anyways...as anyone knows, nobody wants their child on a stimulant. you have to weigh the pros and the cons...but i'm just one to say that i wish we would have started earlier. she's happier with herself...and our home is a happier place to be...life is good:)

RitalinLA has been good for Chase too. I am so glad it is all coming together for your daughter and your family!I'm so happy for you that everything's improved for the better. We're happy to have our son on meds too, his symptoms were sever and we were at breaking point, trouble is with ADHD there’s sometimes a lot of things that are different with one child, then another, (Sometimes even co siding conditions). And sometimes people can help their child’s symptoms with none-meds (Maybe psyc help or behavioural etc).
And you know I don't believe that anything is worth saying no to trying - just do what you feel is best as a parent/carer.
Best of luck hun with everything.
I like Ritalin LA that is what my child is on as well and glad things are better for you.My son is not on med right now. He was before on a non stimulant that did not help. So I am considering medicating him again; so it is very helpful to hear these kinds of stories
.
Excellent!!
