Bipolar or ADHD or Borderline | ADHD Information

Bipolar or ADHD or borderline ? These three seem to get confused fairly easily. I am trying to do an informal survey of people who have been first diagnosed as bipolar, then the diagnosis was changed to ADHD. I generally have the same questions for Borderline as well. How long before you were finally diagnosed ADHD?

How did you or the Doctor finally find out you had ADHD ?

Let me know if the ADHD treatment made a big difference?

Hi Amphete, welcome.

I was diagnosed bipolar two years ago. I now know that this is completely wrong, it's just depression that nails me.  But since my son's diagnosis with ADHD, I'm really beginning to wonder about myself.

Diagnosis may well be wrong. I have the same problem (I also happen to be a shrink who understands how shrinks can be wrong. I would be interested in knowing more about you emotions, independently of your focus. Do you mind discussing them or describing them. Lets go outside the forum

I have been diagnosed with Both ADD and Borderline Personality Disorder. I go to therapy once a week for the BPD and have started on Strattera for my ADHD. Weds will be 3 weeks on meds so still in the beginning phase and not seeing that much of an improvement yet. I still have trouble focusing.

I've never been diagnosed as Bi-Polar because I do not have Manic Highs or Super Low- Lows.

I was diagnosed with both at the same time. By doing a thorough Psych Eval and IQ tests.
I was diagnosed with Borderline personality disorder when I was a teen, although now, it doesn't seem to fit me.  Mine seems more physical in nature, and I seem to have more of the ADHD symptoms then borderline.   I used to have major temper tantrums which were set off when my concentration was broken or when myfeelings were hurt.   My thinking also isn't black and white, which is the major symptom of borderline.
