54 mgs concerta and side effects | ADHD Information

My son is on Concerta and has been for a while and he seems to do really great on it.  Today we are going to move his dose up right now he is only at 27mgs and here within the last three weeks is haveing trouble keeping on track but he has grown alot.  But it has really done him wonders he is not in his own little world like he was with his other meds he was on.

 

I agree with Bethann once you do get the ADHD under control then sometimes other things do come out.  I would bring it up to his doctor and explain what you said to us.

I would mention exactly what you  posted to his prescribing doctor.

A lot of time when you "fix" the adhd with the medicine, other "things" come out that were never noticed due to the adhd. He may in addition to adhd be ocd. Or the medication is playing into it.

That is why I would ask your prescibing doctor.

Hey yall, its me again, been gone for a while but needs some help.....

 

Michael was on 36 mgs concerta daily and wasnt lasting long enough so Dr upped him to 54 daily with a suppliment of 10 mgs of ritalin around 4 or 5 pm. My question is, does anyone elses kid act "weird" on concerta? Like mihcale will be nice and calm, but hes kinda off in his own little world. Liek tonight, he was putting away his toy trucks on his shelf. He was also VERY OCD with it, they had to be places JUST so. I kept telling him it was bed time to just put them up, and it was if i wasnt even talking to him! Took him 10 min to put these toys up JUST THE WAY HE WANTED. Drove me NUTS. He gets so quiet, almost TOO quiet on the medication. Is this normal? I mean yes, i wnat him calm and not running around like his usual wild self, but sometimes its TOO calm. Just makes me wonder sometimes if Im doing the right thing by having him on these medications. His father is riding my ass (were divorced) about having him on meds, wants me ot put him on herbal medication. God im so tierd of this roller coaster, I want off.
