why so long to diagnose

I have a son who for years has had really bad behaviour problems,i went and saw so many people about him and he had all the signs of adhd to me but was told i would need to wait until he was 6yrs old before they could tell me.well he just turned six and he has adhd and aspbergers.i am glad i found this site as its great to know your not the only one with the problems adhd brings to your life.i am waiting to go back to see the consultant and hope i get him this medicine to help him sleep and calm him down,i have about 4hrs sleep a night if im lucky and with a 7mth old daughter as well my life is hetic,i cant leave the room with out taking my daughter as i am scared he will do something stupid to her. he acts like a 2yr old says really bad words runs around like a tornado,i feel i am losing control, i hate going out as when i do and he starts every  one looks at me as if to say do something, they shake there heads at me i just feel like screaming.

can anyone give me tips on how to help him behave when out in public places thanks

ADHD has symptoms that overlap with other disorders and with plain immaturity. To meet the diagnostic requirements for ADHD it has to occur in more than one setting. With the reports of teachers and parents can help meet this requirement.
