Chasesmom79 uses this for her son Chase and is pleased with it. You should PM her to make sure she sees your question.

Chase is taking it but he takes one 4mg tablet in the morning and one 4mg tablet in the evening.  It made him hungry again after the stim meds took the hunger away.  He has gained back the 5 pounds or so that he lost on the meds, and another 3-4 pounds on top of that.  He is about to break 60 pounds for the first time in his life....and he is going to be 11 in July.  Another thing that we have done with some success is med breaks on the weekends.  Chase is also somewhat picky, and what he likes (veggies and fruits) don't have a lot of calories.  Take advantage of the hunger the med causes (it took about 3-4 days to 'kick in') and fix lots of his favorites...Chase loves breads, so I baked pumpkin bread, garlic bread, breadsticks, cakes....

Another thing that helps Chase is that I allow him whatever he wants within reason for breakfast...if he wants leftover Chinese...he gets it. If there is hamburger or meatloaf in the fridge and he feels like eating it, or leftover pizza....I warm it up!  If the food is something that he is in the mood for, he will eat more of it.  Carnation instant breakfast mixed with whole milk has lots of calories....and I slip a tablespoon or so of cream in the cup(50 calories per tablespoon).  Squirt in some chocolate syrup, even if the flavor is already chocolate...another 50 calories per tablespoon, add a dollop of pudding to make it thicker like a shake...more calories....you can make a drink that is worth 3-400 calories easily...and then if you get some food in there too....it all adds up!

Good luck and keep us posted!

OOh! I just weighed Chase and he was 60.5 pounds....he did have on his tennies...but they are lightweight (no thick sole, etc) soooo, hopefully he is at 60 pounds now...I will weigh the shoes this afternoon, I am curious...

My son just went for his 8 yr check up, he's 48 inches tall and only weighs 47 pounds.  He's only gained 7 pounds in 2 years.  He has been taking Metadate CD 10mg, 1 time per day for about a year.  His doctor wants him to gain 7 pounds in the next 2 months.  He gave us Periactin to take at night, it's also an allergy medication.  He is also a very picky eater and eats very little.   Has anyone tried this for weight gain?  Anyone had any success?  Any suggestions.  Thanks.

Thanks for the advise.  Maybe it will help, I don't think it has "kicked in" yet.  Hopefully it will soon.  Has anyone tried the Pediasure for kids.  I was wondering if he might drink it. I tried the pediasure for my son, but he didn't really care for it.  I also used the Carnation Instant breakfast with him, along with the whole milk and as a desert at night we added some ice cream in it in the blender.  Since the addition of my sons other medications, however, he does not need to be pushed to eat anymore.  He frequently doesn't eat much through the day, but he eats a huge breakfast and a huge dinner and wants snacks after that.  We have had to implement some eating rules, since he has never had them before.  Now the milkshakes that he grew to love are a once a week treat!
