Hi I am new to this board. Has anybody ever used or tried DMAE if so what would the dosage be for a 6 yr old? I have read that it used to be used for ADHD before stimulants were used. My 14 yr. old son who has Aspergers has to take adderall to help with concentration (he doesn't have a problem with hyperactivity) but he also takes the DMAE. I orginally gave it to him to help him with his acne. I take it along with alpha lapoic acid to keep my face clear. When he made the comment that he had been able to keep his concentration up better I realized that the only thing different I had been giving him was the DMAE. So I did some research and found out that it was what they used to give kids for ADHD. He says he can tell when he doesn't take it. But when he doesn't that the adderall it isn't as effective.
My 6 yr old is very hyper but attention is not a problem, yet, and I had been giving him BeCalmed along with a lot of phyical activity. It helps ! but it is almost 40 dollars a bottle and not covered by insurance. I want to try the DMAE but I am not sure of the dosage. My older son takes 250 mg. same as me but is that to much for a 6 yr. old. I don't want to put him on adderall or ritalin. His concentration is not a problem at this point. I know when he starts to get bored in school it will be a problem or when he gets a teacher that doesn't want to deal with him

My son is on Concerta right now for his horrendous hyperactivity and inappropriate behavior. I just sent away for Sea Buddies - a supplement for kids who have ADHD. I think it has that DMAE in it. It is loaded with Amino acids and one that is supposed to work immediately is Theonine. This supplement is also found in green tea, but good luck getting a kid to drink that! I am going to try it and I'll let you know. I just checked the website - there IS DMAE in it. And this Theonine and other aminos. I ordered it just yesterday, so I'll let you know how it works when he gets it...........have a good night!....................................dara
