Congratulations to you and to Chase. I know it has been a struggle to get here and you both deserve a reward/

Awesome!!!!!!!!

Can you tell us a little bit about the planner you are using?  We are always looking for an organisational idea.

Our school supplies every child a planner beginning in the 4th grade.  It is just like a usual assignment book, but on a little bit larger scale.

It is maybe 6 inches wide by 10 inches high...with a nice sized area to fill in each assignment and a box on the right for checking off when done.  At the bottom there are places for short notes from parents and teachers.

Congratualtions, Chase!!

Great job pulling things together!

That is T-rific!

Chase has been filling in his planner every day, and checking off the assignments when they are completed.  He hasn't gotten the teachers to sign it every day....but if he is filling it in, and completing the assignments, I really don't care...

Today he had his after school program, and he got to Jonna's at about 5:45.  I asked him how much homework he had..and he said "None".  I was shocked.  On Mondays there is always spelling to do, along with math, and usually social studies, etc....but he pulled out his planner and went down the list, as he told me each thing had been completed and turned in already.  This is including an assignment that is not due till Friday!  When I asked him about that one, he said, "I knew if I didn't do it right away, I would maybe forget, so I did it and turned it in already."  ClapClap  I am so glad that he is starting to understand that about himself, and is making adjustments.....grade cards come out in about a week....I hope the other shoe does not drop then......I am almost afraid that there will be some nasty surprise...

He also showed me his science test, which was a thing of beauty!  The handwriting was beautiful cursive, neat and tidily spaced....there were 2 pages front and back of fill in the blank sentences and full sentence answers....

He got a 95%--the highest grade in the whole 5th grade!!!!

chasesmom7939153.7785648148Great job Chase,  My son is in 4th grade and they have something similar.  He has also got 95% on his social studies and 100 and 95%s on spelling in the passed 3 weeks.  I am blown away.  I must say that lots of praise when they do good is the best medicine.  He is now having a hatred for math Division.  He likes to do it in his head. and gets frustrated with me when I try to tell him how to do it.  But just wanted to say Congrats to Chase and Mom.  Something is clicking obviously.

My son does not have a planner but rather a homework book.  Most of the time he doesn't write down half of his homework or assignments because he "ran out of time".  We persevere though.

Thanks for sharing your lovely story.  Congrats to you and your son!!

I know exactly what you mean about grade card day though. Our reports are issued next Friday ... I think I'm WAY more stressed about it than him!  I SO want him to do well on this one.

I think ours come tomorrow.....and I know what you mean..I am the nervous one!

Let us know!!

WTG Chase!! Super Job keeping organized!!
You've given me hope!
