naetsa.com ( where you can also become "certified") claims that NAET "treats"the following:( I copied and pasted, too much to type)
NAET treats: Acne, ADD/ADHD, anxiety attacks, arthritis, asthma, autism, backache, bad breath, blood pressure problems, bronchitis, candida, chemical sensitivities, chronic fatigue, colitis, constipation, cough, depression, diarrhea, dry eyes, dyslexia, ear infections, eating disorders, emotional problems, eczema, environmental allergies, excessive appetite, falling hair, fibromyalgia, flatulence, food cravings, frequent colds, frequent infections, gallstones, general itching, hay fever, headaches, heartaches, hemorrhoids, herpes, hives, hormones imbalances, hyperactivity, hypoglycemia, immune defiency disorders, indigestion, insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome IBS, kidney disease, knee pains, leaky gut syndrome, lock jaw, lupus, menopausal syndrome, migraines, mood swings, nervous stomach, night sweats, overeating, O.C.D., parasitic infestations, phobias, poor appetite, poor memory, post nasal drip, premenstrual syndrome, psoriasis, psychological disorders, restless leg syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, ringworm, sciatica pains, sea sickness, shingles, sinusitis, stiff neck, thyroid problems, varicose veins, vertigo, weight problems, etc.
NAET treats addiction to: Smoking, alcohol, carbohydrates, coffee, drugs, food.
IMHO anything that claims to "treat" all of these things is a joke.
You cannot "remove" allergies or ADHD, or asthma for that matter. No wonder it isn't working for you child.
OH BTW, NAET is accupressure techniques.Hmmm- I checked it out- sounds a lot like what my mother and sister do.
There is some research posted on their site, but it doesn't say who conducted it and it also doesn't include a control group, and doesn't compare the results to conventional treatments, or even other alternative treatments. It also doesn't explain how you find out what your "hidden" allergies are.
I also read some of the woman who founded NAET's story. Supposedly she ate nothing but broccoli and rice for 3 years because she was severely allergic to vitamins A, C, and B Complex. Except aren't those essential? And broccoli contains 81mg of vit. C/cup which would mean she'd be getting quite a lot of it with such a restricted diet. Not to mentions she'd be severly anemic after 3 years.
But, glad to hear it worked for your son, Melissa, even if I can't figure out why it would work.
You can look up NAET on a google search and find the NAET website - it will tell you a lot about the procedure (accupressure with whatever it is that you are sensitive to held in your hand during the accupressure and for 10 minutes afterwards...followed by 24 hours of avoiding the substance that you are sensitive to).
My son had TONS of allergies when we started, and almost none now. He wasn't able to breathe through his nose for most of 12 years even with allergy shots and various antihistimines (prescription and non) and those nasal things (Flonase worked better than anything else). Now, at 14 years old, he breathes through his nose all the time...with NO drugs at all.
For those of you wary of scientology, I would tell you that the "big dogs" of NAET are in Clearwater, Fla...a stronghold area for them. I don't believe our chiropractor (who does the NAET therapy) is a Scientologist, but I know he goes to Clearwater rather often.
They use applied kinesiology to figure out what your hidden allergies are. The day we went, I brought the report from Vanderbilt Hospital's Allergy Clinic of all of my son's allergies. The NAET therapist didn't even care to see it - and he came up with the exact same list of things that Vanderbilt had, plus other things that Vanderbilt hadn't even tested for.
After 24 treatments, my son is pretty much allergy free. The doc just got the "ADHD kit" for NAET - and he's had three treatments so far. I think there are 12 vials to treat for ADHD, so it will take awhile longer for my son to finish those treatments - then I can get an idea of whether it will help his ADHD!
Just wanted to let everyone know that my family has been receiving NAET therapy for two years now. We started this after the Vanderbilt Allergy/Asthma and Gastroenterology group told us they could not help our son. (He was being treated for asthma/allergies/eociniphilicesophagitis (sp?).) This has done an outstanding job of removing most of my son's allergies.
The doc received training for NAET to treat ADHD in November and has been treating my son's ADHD with NAET therapy in February. We haven't seen the slightest change yet...
