LETS VACATION TOGETHER | ADHD Information

I so know what u mean.  We went on a 5 day Disney Vacation before our diagnosis and they told me that my ds "jumped" in the back of the room for 2 hours during a movie, he could not sit.  They told me that he "went to the beat of his own drum".  I am not worried this time, we are medicated.A fun idea.  We went on the RC Explorer of the Seas last summer, and my 8 yo DS got kicked out of the kids club after a few days -- they were aware of his issues, but there were too many kids and they just couldn't handle it.  I really hope you have better luck!Can't this summer, but we are booked on Disney's Mexican Riviera August 3, 2008!!!  If anyone decides to go then, pm me.  I'm very nervous about my son and being in the kid's clubs.  We went once when he was 3 (never any thought of ADHD at that point), and he had a rough time in there.  He couldn't follow directions and threw a few tantrums that the staff called us to come get him.  I was soooo disappointed.  He had a blast on the cruise with all the other activities we did, but just couldn't fare well in the kid's clubs with care providers he didn't know or want to obey, I guess.  I'm hoping it'll be better next time around as I know more about this and plan to have a long talk w/the cruise staff before he starts in the programs.Serenity, what did he get kicked out for? Was he being physical towards others or non-cooperating?  I would love to hear what their reasoning was.  You pay for the kids club.  I didnt think they could just kick him out.

Actually, last summer's cruise he did OK in the kids club, with some daily comments.  I realized after I wrote this that it was it was the summer before when he was 6-1/2 that he they told me he was jumping on everyone -- he tends to get very silly and aggressive if he feels uncomfortable in a situation.  He refused to listen to their rules.  He had been given many warnings, and had been asked to leave early and could come back the next day and try it again.  (We only had him in for the morning session!)  It didn't work out.

I suppose the kids club is included in their fare -- hadn't thought about that.  Last summer's counselors were more experienced and did better with him -- and he had just started meds last summer too.  As myjeffrey said, I also took one of them aside and told them about his issues.  There is also a form you need to fill out, where you can detail your concerns.  Hope you guys have a blast!  Cruising is our favorite way to vacation.

the ship leaves out of Port Canaveral Florida. You can make reservations and then pay them off, you dont need all the money at once.  You have 3 full months until the ship leavesHere is my idea.  My husband and I are going on the Royal caribbean Cruise ship Mariner of the seas July 8th through the 14 or 15th, Eastern caribbean. They have a childrens club on board. Who wants to book and come with us?  The ADHD children can make friends and learn they are not alone and we can all party together.  I AM SO SERIOUS.  We are booked and paid.  You should ALL COME WITH US!!!!!!!!!I would sooo love to....I went on a royal carribean cruise once, and I loved it....but we are so strapped for cash right now with my school....and we want to start on the prep for building our house this summer..... I was thinking of just that when I posted, " I think we should get a cruise ship for all of us that are in the same boat!"

That would be a blast!  We went on a Royale Caribe cruise and my kids loved it!  My rule for the boys was to keep their feet on the deck and be sure to come to dinner on time.  Unfortunately we don't have the money to do something like that at this time.  A virtual cruise ship might be fun.
