Straterra is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. It is very strictly dosed by weight, and NOT by symptoms like Concerta or other stims. it has to be ramped very slowly to the target dose of 1.2-1.8 mgs per kilo( 2.2 lbs) body weight, there are No exceptions to this.

You can get all the info you want from Eli Lilly's website, Straterra.com

My dd took Strat for 2 years with absolutely no problems.

Well, I finally took my 9 year old son to a pediatric neurologist for
management, or at least a consult, for his ADHD. This came as a result of
our pediatrician managing his meds for the last year and really have little
insight into ADHD and its medications. Based on the info I gave the
neurologist, she's ordered the full-on work up, in addition to switching his
med. from Concerta to Strattera. So please, those of you out there who have
experience with this drug, can you advise me on what your child's reaction
was?

My son is on concerta. He took straterra in addition to concerta so that he had a med. in his sytem at all times. Concerta leaves the system 100% once it wears off, stratterra builds up in the blood so it does not.

straterra made my son depressed and he wanted to kill himself. He was 8 at the time. I immeditatly stopped the strattera, didn't even wean him and it went away. He doesn't even remember feeling that way.

That was our experience. From what I understand, those who do well on straterra suffer the non attentive adhd, not the hyper active, which my son has. You will start at a low dose and move up based on your son's weight. Then will eventually level off due to his weight after slowly working it up.

Good luck!
