If you aren't starting meds yet, I would just tell him that what you have long suspected is now official, but that since you think he is doing fine with the plans in place, nothing is going to change.
I believe that this will work in your favor, if in the future you do decide to medicate. Since his father is not onboard, then he will most likely begin to accuse you of reaching for the "easy way out, pop a pill". At which point you can remind him of just how long M has remained med free since the dx.......
Evening all. Jut rec'd "offical" diagnosis today. Something that has been suspected for awhile, and wasn't surprised by but its always harder to hear someone else say... seems so absolute.
Anyway, M's dad has never been supportive of getting M anykind of help...
M already has a behavior support plan, star charts etc. so the Dr says there is really nothing more to to do but meds (which I don't beleive is neccesary at this time). The real question here is should I share the offical word with M's dad or, since there is really no major changes being made, just let it be? We share parent so M is with him 1/2 the time... even though he is playing video games when not eating or sleeping (that's another subject :))
