wow that seems like alot for that size.. my son is on 5 mg at 56 pds and we just increased to 7.5 due to his weight going back to 62 or so. we were told the most to go to is 10 mg for his size/weight (he is 7 years old). I notice with more meds the grumpier/meaner he gets. more he bugs his brother, etc.
ask the doctor maybe about decreasing the meds???
What exactly have these 3 psychiatrists, 3 psychologists, and the neuropsych tell you? Did they have a diagnosis? How did he behave during their evaluations?
Did any of them diagnose anxiety? Has he ever been on any kind of SSRI antidepressant?
If he lost his beloved grandmother less than 1 year ago I would think these professionals had an opinion on that!
Don't give up searching for answers. The mouth odor you describe may be something to follow up on. I'd take him to an allergist who specializes in pediatrics to rule out any severe allergies that may be contributing to this.

This does not sound typical to me. My son has been diagnosed with ADHD/Anxiety/Impulse...yet he has never done what you are speaking of. However, he has done his own things. Does he recieve counseling?well once again i don't know what to think. in simple form josh is a very skinny kid,he is 43 lbs,and he will be 8 in may. he has been on so many meds, ritialin, focalin, concerta, strattera, medadate, daytrna,an d now adderall. now he is on 15 adderall xr and tenex.with all the previous meds it works great in the beginning then it stops.within the last year he has gotten so much worse, just last week he broke the toliet because he put a box of q tips in it and flushed,he makes a mess everywhere, throws wrappers and uneaten food wherever,he although warned, pleaded and threatned he will urinate in the bathtub,on the heater vent, but most times not the toliet.i cannot stand the way the bathroom now smells even though i scrub it and air freshners. he often says how much he hates his life, yet he has a good life,i'm home,he's never had to move,he has a little sister who loves him but he tormnets her terribly to where she's almost crying all the time,he has his games,i got him a new bike last week and i made time to do actitvities for spring break, play frisbee just me and him,and etc.can anyone give me any ideas as to if this is normal adhd behavior or does he sound like another issue?any ideas is appreciated. This does not sound like normal (whatever THAT means) ADHD behavior. Can you give us any background on what professionals (type of doctors, psychologists, etc) diagnosed him and if he has been dx'd with any co-existing disorders such as anxiety, bipolar, ODD, etc?
Also........has there been any trauma of any type? Divorce, death of someone he is close to, etc??
Also.....has he ever been checked for allergies or any kind of urinary infection?

i have always voiced that to drs why does'nt any of the meds work with him?he weighs so little you'd think the meds would work great.well i'll start at birth he was very sick as a newborn, but then he went to nicu and was well, but his sleeping as a baby was very tough, did'nt sleep nights and naps were also difficult.nothing medically except the weight which started at 8 mths,he just did'nt want food, all the tests were fine, from 8 mths to 3yrs he only ate enough to stay alive.but a major thing in our life was the passing of my mom who was the only person that josh was close to.and he never dealt with that and yes his behavior has gotten worse since then, that was in sept. i have taken him to 3 psych,3 pyschologigists, and 1 neuropsych. yet no one gives me an answer as to what is causing this.no never been checked for allergies, but they have done urine tests?i always ask the ped is there something else thats causing this, they say adhd.yet i will think to my death that there is something else, one thing stands out that he has a terrible odor from his mouth,i tell the dentist and they say his mouth is fine that its medical, yet the drs have no answer,i've tried mouthwash, mouth moisener, and having him brush his teeth at school yet the kids make fun of him because his mouth smells.so i'm getting ulcers and gray hairs because i don't know what else to do or where to turn.i do believe the smell is a digestion thing, hes never had big tonsils. but the not wanting to eat as an infant i mean he ate just enough to stay alive and how to get a 8mth old to drink/eat. oh my gosh he had the worst diapers, made your eyes water. i keep telling the drs because i feel bad for him at school with the kids talking about him,the last dr said oh did smell the smell and to him it smelled like high sugar, well i am a diabetic so i have a sugar monitor so i checked his sugars a little elevated but not to where you'd be alarmed, the dr ordered blood tests which i was told were ok.i've looked at the mayo clinic website about mouth odors i had often wondered if he had a liver problem because that makes one not eat,etc but i assume blood tests would show that, and the last dr i asked did his liver seem enlarged. i really don't know what else to do,i'm so frustrated. This mouth odor thing really needs to be explored further. While your trying to pinpoint the source.....at a minimum, go to Walmart and buy a tongue scraper in the toothpaste section. The plaque build up on the tongue is the biggest source of odor for most.
Here are a couple of comments about mouth odor I cut and pasted from Google:
Diseases. Chronic lung infections and lung abscesses can produce very foul-smelling breath. Several other illnesses can cause a distinctive breath odor. Kidney failure can cause a urine-like odor, and liver failure may cause an odor described as "fishy." People with uncontrolled diabetes often have a fruity breath odor. Chronic reflux of stomach acids from your stomach (gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD) and a slight protrusion of the stomach into the chest cavity (hiatal hernia) also can produce bad breath. Mouth, nose and throat conditions. Bad breath is also associated with sinus infections because nasal discharge from your sinuses into the back of your throat can cause mouth odor. A child with bad breath may have a foreign object lodged in his or her nose. A bean or small item stuck in the nose can cause persistent nasal discharge and a foul odor. Strep throat, tonsillitis and mononucleosis can cause bad breath until the throat infection clears. Bronchitis and other upper respiratory infections in which you cough up odorous sputum are other sources of bad breath. Canker sores may be related to bad breath, especially if they accompany periodontal disease.Has your son ever had reflux or any gastrointestinal problems??
I would definately look into this more with another doctor if you have to. It sounds like the ones you've seen to date are just blowing this off and dismissing your concerns. Time to get a little aggressive.

My husband is a dentist and our daughter has the worse mouth odour. I believe that she has a digestive imbalance. She has in the past had enlarged tonsils (now gone!) but suffered terribly from thrush as a baby (yeast infection). She would have a bleeding nappy area and the worst bowel motions. We took her off milk at about 18 months and things cleared up. She is now 16 and still has the bad breath. I still think that it is an inbalance in the intestines - probably over run with yeast. She loves bread and sugar but is a healthy size 4. Hope this is of some helpkeep talking and dont quit talking
death happens so dont takes chances with medsand feeling of death . death is not a ADHD issue , but it is a ADHD meds issue.
feeling of death are nothing but feelings. a simple drug can make the worst cases of suicidal tendencies feeling evaporate withing 72 hours . intresting huh
get him to a phych and get to root sooner than later .
get him to eat chef boyardee beef ravioli thats stuff should be banned . i take that back im offering no opion on nutrician - weightloss sometimes creates bad breath and sugars fuels bad breath with no fat content either like jellie beans
have no fat but a twinkie omg
and sodium keeps from lossin wieght like sprite but causes dehydration
i dont have time to re edit this but instead of earasing the whole thing ill let it stay but dont trust anyof it . i was just typing random thoughts before posting someting more relevant

What about a possible metabolic problem? Maybe an endocrinologist could help. Just a thought from my nurse-brain~!!!

i have asked for him to see an endo,i am a diabetic and i saw an endo several times a yr,my endo has talked about issues with josh and has told me he dores'nt know why the drs don't refer him to the children's hospital. but all the reg peds say oh he's fine.i'm sorry but several drs can't tell me how to cure or whats causing the mouth odor. the kids are so brutal to him about it,which it is bad at times to where when i pick him up from school i can smell it in the drs seat when he's in the backseat.i appreciate all the ideas if there any ideas to things that might be causing his behavior i'm all ears ,i'm desperate. joshsmom39179.8068518518Any one, adult or child, that has a foul odor coming from their mouth, has something wrong!
I am wondering if there is an infection? Any cold sores?
The poor little guy!
I would go with your gut and DEMAND another look, could you go to the emergency room? How about another dentist just to be sure?!
Something is not right, even if it is due to his digestive area.
Stay with this, something isn't right. You would hate to have ignored it and something else occur!
Seek medical treatment any way you can!! If it was my child, I know my husband and I would!
Let us know what happens!!
i have been around kids all my life and i had never noticed mouth smells such as he has. everytime he goes to the dentist every 6 mths its brought up and i'm always told his mouth is fine, its medical.no enlarged tonsils, never had a cold sore. because he has mediccaid i cannot just take him where ever.he has been to 2 dentists,a peds and a reg dds. i have always said that i feel there is something medically because of how little he is and always has been,i always worry that there is something in him that the drs are'nt looking for. maybe its too complex for the small town drs here,i have always wished he could go to the childrens hosp. but because you need an referal he can't go there, the drs here say oh he's fine, and we will just keep increasing his adhd meds.i'm always reading and looking because i know that the things he does and how he looks and acts are'nt typical adhd behavior.Bad breath can be caused by bacteria that live in the mouth (particularly on the back of the tongue). I would make sure that he brushes his tongue 2x daily, and flosses. Can you put one of those heavy duty blast mouth freshener things in his lunch box? I can't remember what they are called. Some are liquid and you dab in on your tongue. It sounds like the dentist thinks there is no problem with the way he is brushing his teeth, and he has no sinus or throat infection. It could also be dry mouth (xerostomia) - caused by salivary gland problems, medications or by "mouth breathing." I would research the med side-effects and see if you can identify one as the culprit.
It sounds like the psychiatrists have only focused on medication but not on nailing down a diagnosis? It sounds like there is a co-morbid condition. I'm just guessing.
