Thanks aus10...it really makes me feel great that you feel that I am in tune with Chase. It is really the only way I know to help him to be successful.....and he and I have a special relationship....he is my baby. He is a deep thinker, and often surprises me with comments, so he is fun to talk to and listen to. I truly value his input in this bumpy road we travel to treat his ADHD...after all, he is the one it is happening to, though sometimes it feels like my problem, it is ultimately his. If he doesn't know how to express things to the doctor now, how will he as he becomes an adult, and is managing things on his own? I won't be going to med checks with him when he is grown, if he still needs the meds then.
It is a reflection of my parenting style, I think. I have always believed that we, as parents, are here to teach our children to be independent adults, and the process has to start almost from infancy. We have to guide them through the process of thinking for themselves little by little, until we work ourselves out of the job.....well maybe not totally, but for the most part!
Chase also has the benefit of being the youngest of 4 children spaced out in age from 26 down to 10....I had time to reflect on things that I did with the first (and subsequent) child, and see if it worked or didn't and regroup, and perfect things....so I think that he got a better parent than say, Jonna did as the oldest child.....I was still a babe in the woods then......
AWESOME!!!!!!!! It is so good to hear chase is doing so good. I know what you mean about the weight issue. My dd is 6 (next wee) and she has weigh 42 pounds for the last several months. I guess it is better than losing (as she did on Focalin) Again a big WHOPPIEEEEEEE for you!!!!

Can I have some rootbeer float too???????
great for chase! i know weight is a huge issue for my 10 year old at 60 lbs. I always follow your story because i think you are very in tune with your child, YOU are great inspiration to a lot of us. I am happy to here you all are doing so well, keep up the good work!!!
Yes it does, and I really hope that all fo you others that are having problems can someday soon get to this point with their treatment. I know it can happen, I have watched it with him...
We don't have to go back to the doc till August
, unless we have problems.....
I did just buy some ice cream......
, Chase LOVES root beer floats!
Good for you Chase, and way to go mom! Another success story with meds. don't you just love it.
You should celebrate with some ice cream ( just to keep the pounds coming LOL)!
Job well done!! Keep up the good work.

That's great news! I always read your reports on how Chase is doing.. I'm so happy for you.
With the way things have been going lately plus the awful morning we had, I need to hear something good.. I'm feeling about as low as a parent could today...
Great news! I'm glad to hear everything is going so well for Chase!Chase had his med check this morning and he is up another 2 pounds, in a little under 2 months..not spectacular, but still gaining, so I am happy.
We discussed the fact that all three teachers commented that Chase seemed "tired and listless" frequently....when no one had mentioned that little tidbit to me.....and she looked his grade card over and noticed that he has only one checkmark (as opposed to 7 last grade period). He told her that school was great and that he is proud of how he has "turned myself around".
The ped also noticed (as have Jon and I) that Chase's color is so much better....he was pale, and now he has color in his cheeks, and a twinkle in his eye.....she thinks the 5 pounds weight gain in the last few months may be why....I think it is no more puking from fish oil. We also talked about him being on the Prilosec (she had me start him on that when he had so much acid). She wants him on it one more week (total 2 months) then we will take him off and see if he has healed enough to go w/o the Prilosec.
We nailed down that we will go off the stim in the summer (she asked Chase again what he wanted to do), and just use the guanfacine, as long as he gets along well with Jake and others and minds me and his dad...
So I am happy, the appointment went well, and he is doing well and gaining again, instead of losing.
