First of all, if the story you are referring to is the one I am thinking of...those parents were giving a 4 year old massive amounts throughout the day to keep the child sedated and out of their way....
If you are giving it as it is prescribed (they were not in the case of the death), then I am sure it is fine. My child does not take clonidine, but I am sure if the doctor prescribed it, it is in a safe range......
My son has been on 1 miligrams of Clonidine since he was 6 (he is 12 now) due to the fact that his ADHD medicine kept him up all night. Recently, the 1 mg was not working and he started staying up again. The doctor increased it to 2 miligrams and it has been working fine. I just worry about him taking too much because I just read an article about a child who died for an overdose of clonodine...the child was not ADHD. My son is on the Daytrana patch, 20mg; 5 mg of Abilify; and 2 mg of Clonodine. I was just wondering if anyone else's child out there takes that much Clonodine?
Thanks
You could always voice your concern to the Dr.! Maybe re read that article and make sure you are looking for any signs they wrote about and OF COURSE ASK DS HOW HE FEELS!! That would be the best thing you could do! Know one know how he fells more that him!! You could even keep a log of andything he tells you! Then you could see if some thing is of concern!
When my ds was on Adderall it gave him these weird trances. If i had kept a log I would have stopped the med sooner! Know I know and can pass it on to others!
Best of luck to you!!
