Reduce Meds to Help Anxiety | ADHD Information
I know I have discussed this before. We lowered our DS to the 10 mg
Daytrana Patch because of his increased "bug" anxiety. He was doing
awesome on 15 mg until spring started. Now his fear of bees and wasps is
in full force. He is in Kindergarten. The teacher is totally supportive and
thinks that the lower dose helps him outside and playing with friends. He
does need 15 mg. to focus more, but we are working with the lower dose for
his anxiety. Anyone else had to do this? I should be happy that he is taking
less medication, but I don't know why I am constantly worried about him. I
can't seem to stop stressing about this. He is seeing his therapist today to
help "desensitize" him to bugs. His allergies are so bad as well. I actually
want spring to be over already. Anyone else dealing with this? What exactly is guanfacine? I am not familiar with it.
I could post my usual spiel about tenex, but I am feelin lazy...just got home from class and it is late...., so I am posting the link to the 7 page thread in the medication forum....it has tons of info on the med...guanfacine is the generic form of tenex.

You may be stressing because you are giving meds and not getting the full results that you know are posible. You might ask the doc to supplement the daytrana with guanfacine to get more milage until the bug anxiety is reduced or gone.
When we could not increase my youngest daughter's meds because of weight issues, the doc added guanfacine to augment the stimulant. It is a good combination for us.
