Meds Not working help whats wrong ? | ADHD Information
I was not familiar with equasym xl so I looked it up. It is a methylphenidate form in the UK.
I agree with Mom2ADHDboy. It may be time to look at the a dose adjustment. 20mg is pretty low and may have just barely been enough. As the challenges of school have increased, the med need may have increased. Also, consider if he has had an increase in stress or anxiety. Stress can cause the brain not to work as efficiently and can increase ADHD symptoms and make the meds not work as well at the lower dose.
Just a couple of thoughts.
It's possible a dosage change is all that's needed. I'd start with that, and then go from there. Hopefully he'll be back on track soon.I'v used this forum in times of hardness and also to share good ideas that I have ,
on this occassion i am lost my son Thomas is now almost 9 he has been on equasim xl 20mg for a year and for the bast 11mths there has been a huge improvment although we all love our children there was always a certain frustration at there impulsavness there rudeness and sometimes there inabilltyto accept others feelings .When I say huge improvment what I really mean is winning awards at school showing kindness and understanding for others making friends and not losing them made me feel hey things can get better and will ' I still belive this but I need you parents help to get over this latest hurrdle as I respect the opinio of parenyts on this site as I do tom's doctor who may I addis fab .
Toms behaver has been eratic not a day without a bad period in 6 weeks no magor changers apart from he now does karate 1 per week as well as boys brigade we are lucky enough to have private gardens where we live and he is enjoying about 2hrs per day of me time but he gives back chat for everything wont do as hes asked wont listen wont go to bed is aggressive oppositional and hurtfull i'v always had load's of time for this but i'm losing my patience and my wil maybe even my heart how do I get this wee bot back? spoke with doc 2 days ago sugest 30mg equasim and possible strattera not sure this is the answer please let me know if you have experianced the same or if you have an opion onthe meds please help as this site is to me like the bible being serious I really respect the info I get here as it comes from them in the know

Sounds like the med is a good one for him--possibly time for a dosage change.
